We left Dimitsana pretending to head for Olympia, the story behind which I am presuming Liane would have told in her last entry; due to her doing the "hard yakka" of sorting out and uploading photos for her blog as well as writing I am currently writing a day ahead of her so never know exactly what stories she has or will tell.....it's really kind of fun as by reading hers I get to re-live our travels and remember things I had forgotten etc.....but yes anyway...

Our stay in Dimitsana was relaxed and really enjoyable; we mainly wandered around experiencing an incredible hillside village and the only genuine tourist thing we did was to take the drive down to the Prodhomos Monastery and walk down to see the incredible "homes in the mountain wall" which I presume are or were monks cells but time constraints mean I haven't actually gotten around to checking that out......That's another reason why I look forward to Lia...

After our night in Gefira, as we hadn't really explored Monemvasia the evening before, we planned to get up early, book out of our hotel, pack the car in readiness for leaving and then go up there for breakfast and have a wander before continuing on our next leg......yes girls MORE climbing to do! We were sorry to say goodbye to Nafplio, both the gorgeous town and also Kostas, our front desk guy at the Hotel Athina who repeatedly helped the three stupid Australian tourists, who thoroughly enjoyed their morning yoghurt and honey and spanakopita for breakfast but couldn't quite work the mysteries of the childproofed hot water dispenser.....we never did get the hang of it. Ah Nafplio.....what can I say........I love the place. I actually have been there before, many years ago, but I had no hesitation in agreeing to add it to an itinerary again. Other than Nafplio (and Athens of course) the only other place on this trip I've been to previously will be Kastraki.
