I'm back on the road again! Yesterday we left Quito in the morning and drove to the equator line. There were a few activities to do there, they told us a bit about some animals in the area and showed some pickled ones in jars, followed by some info about tribes in the area, including showing us some real shrunken heads. On the equator line we did some experiments, one where we had to balance an egg on a nail head, I have a 'diploma' to say I did it, and another showing how water (and hurricanes etc.) swirl in the opposite direction in the different hemispheres and not at all on the line, as well as a few other activities. After eating lunch in the car park we drove on to Otavalo. Today is a big market where they close down streets in town and fill them with stalls. We spent hours wandering around looking at all the things for sale. Lots of alpaca wool products, carved stone, friendship bracelets, food and all sorts of random stuff. It would have been easy to spend a lot of money but I'm trying not to buy too much or it will be too hard to carry!
