Iguazu Falls is beautiful. I spent a full day in the park on the Argentinean side wandering around and doing a few activities. The first was a drive through the jungle during which a guide told us about plants and I guess if we had seen any wildlife they would have talked about that as well. Then we got on a speed boat which took us up river to sit at the bottom of the falls and take photos, then after securing cameras etc in waterproof bags, took us right in close under the falls to get drenched. Later in the afternoon after walking around the viewing platforms, the most amazing of which was over the Devil's Throat where a circle of waterfalls pours down and spray comes up making rainbows, we went on an ecological tour on a different part of the river in a raft kind of boat. Again the tour was to try and spot wildlife but all we saw was a couple of birds and a turtle. The waterfalls were awesome the only thing missing was wildlife, I was expecting quite a lot but apart from coatis running around there wasn't much else. Bring on Pantanal!
After a day to relax and another crossing the border into Brazil and settling in here, today has been a visit to the Brazilian side of the falls. The views from this side are spectacular, you get a much wider view from a distance rather than being really close to most of the falls, definitely worth seeing from both sides. This side didn't take as long as there were no activities but it ended up being a full day by including a visit to the Bird Park across the road. It is a very cool place, so many birds both indigenous and exotic, and a few reptiles and butterflies. It was easy to fill in a few hours walking around there.
