I have had a very outdoorsy week. The Moreno Glacier was beautiful, even after seeing the other glaciers, it was just spectacular. We had a boat trip to view the face, but the best part was the platforms you could walk around to see it from different angles. It was a cold, fun day.

From El Calafate we crossed back into Chile to Torres del Paine National Park. There we had three full days to do different hikes in the park. I decided that since I managed to do the Inca Trail at altitude I should be fine to hike all three days. Day one was the six hour towers walk which we had to get a transfer to as there was a bridge to cross which could barely fit a van width let alone the truck. Day two we were getting a ferry to a different campsite at the beginning of the other two walks. That morning we woke up to roaring winds. Just boarding the ferry we were almost blown off the walkway. The ferry set out but rounding a corner the crew decided it was too windy and we had to turn back. We waited an hour and they decided to give it another go. This time we kept going but the waves were huge, crashing over the boat and rolling us around. It felt like we were under water half the time. Very, very scary! I was too scared to get seasick. It was almost lunch time by the time we arrived but the day light hours are so long now that there was still plenty of time to walk. This time we went to Grey's Glacier, another six hour walk. By the end I was exhausted. Day three was a walk in French's Valley. There was a time constraint as we had to get back to catch the ferry again so we started out at 7am to try and do the full walk. We ended up turning back a bit early but still did about nine hours that day. In all we hiked about 70km in the park, very sore afterwards but happy I did it. The scenery was so beautiful, mountains and lakes, amazing colours. I ended up not taking many photos, partly cos I was too tired but mostly because it was impossible to capture the beauty and do it justice.

A day and a half of driving and another border crossing back to Argentina later, we have arrived in Ushuaia. Fin del Mundo, the end of the earth. Today I've been on a boat trip in Beagle Channel to see islands with lots of birds and seals and penguins. I'm also hoping to go beaver spotting while we're here. It's a bit cold but so far not too windy, so a nice change from the last few places we've been. When we leave here we have a lot of long drive days to get to Buenos Aires, only stopping in one town on the way. No one is really looking forward to all that time on the truck so we're making the most of our time here, and looking forward to arriving in B.A.
