Just a quick update of my 10 days in Cusco.......I have had a fab time, relaxing and taking time to explore this lovely town...I decided not to volunteer with Yuri's organisation, it was obvious there were more than enough volunteers and it just didn't feel right...it was lovely to have met Yuri though and some of the volunteers and to have actually seen the place and the good work they are doing.....the staff at the hostal are just lovely...Alexandra passed me a note at breakfast this morning asking if I would like to spend the afternoon with her, I duly agreed...we had such fun trying to converse with each other, the ickle Spanish to English and vice versa book that Mike and Jemma had left me came in real handy! She took me on a local bus up to her home suburb of Poroy and she showed me her chickens and guinea pigs...we then had lunch before setting back for the centre of Cusco, as she had a University class to attend....she works at the hostal in the mornings serving breakfast and cleaning, but is studying to be an Engineer.....it was so lovely of her to show me around....this is indicative of Peruvian people, very warm, kind and welcoming and always proud of their country and towns and always ready to help.....my trip has been truly blessed with meeting such lovely people.....I have been feeling a bit lonely since saying cheerio to the group, but the people here have made it easier......tomorrow is my last day, then on Friday I will be taking the 21 hour bus back to Lima, where I will then fly to Miami, leaving at 1am Sunday morning, so I should be checked in at The Betsy Hotel on Ocean Drive by 8am on Sunday....I am really looking forward to seeing Miami and having a lovely relax at the hotel......planning on spending lazy days on the hotels private beach, drinking cocktails, will defo arrange to do a day trip through the Florida keys down to Key West, passing through Key Largo, which was the name of my old 'Pap Pap' Peugeot 106.......apparently I can also do a day cruise to the Bahamas! not sure I'll have time to do everything, as also looking at doing a day trip through the Everglades, alligator spotting....will also explore the beautiful Art Deco district, the rest of South Beach and will see if I can recognise any of Crockett and Tubbs old haunts! lol.......
