Luck lucky lunch :) Esaki. 3 Star Michelin restaurant. Hidden in a basement. Felt calm even though had been waiting outside for an hour in the hope of getting a lunch time seat. Paid off. We were greeted with smiles and lots of bowing :) We ordered a drink and this menu was already on our table. Turned out to be a six course feast. Slightly terrified when we realised the bill could be huge but we had researched loads and all michelins had a lunch for between 20 ...

First Course. Soy Aubergine, Sweet carrots, Green Sugar, blueberry sauce. Loved the simplicity and lightness of this dish. Really fresh and will definitely try the soy aubergine at home.

The guys check the tuna tail end. Using hooks. Jabbing the fish. Then releasing a small piece warming it up in their hands to check its quality. The auction is surprisingly quiet. Like most of Tokyo people just go about their business. No one even looked at the gills.
