i was so sorry to hear such devasting news. My prayers go out to his friends and family.
He was my gentle giant defender who always made me smile on cold wet sunday mornings when i would rather have been in bed.

We would like to thank everyone for their kind messages. We are devastated by Stephen's death and words cannot describe the loss we feel. He was a wonderful son and brother and we are very proud of him. It is lovely to hear all of these nice comments about him and how he touched so many people's lives.
We are finding it difficult at the moment to put all of our feelings into words but we do know that but as well as mourning his death we want to cellebrate his short, but very full, life and we would really like as many of you as possible to be with us when we do that. We will post details of the funeral arrangements when we have them.
To Dan, Dan Andy and Alex (sorry - never did manage to sort out all of your nicknames) it is great to hear that you are all OK and yes we we would love for any of you to speak at the funeral - perhaps one of you can give me a ring to discuss.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to keep you more up to date and am grateful to my sister Ruth (and Steve and Marv) for passing on any information. I hope we can provide you with more information in due course.
Once again, thanks to all of you for your kind messages and thoughts.

It is with such sadness that Im writing my first message on the board. I was shocked when I heard the news, as Im sure everyone else was. The testiments on the page just show what a fantastic lad Fairy was, it was an absolute pleasure to have known him throughout Uni. Thoughts go out to his family and you boys, hope you return safely.
RIP Fairy, gone but never forgotten.

I think words can't really describe just how much steve is going to be missed and I feel so much for the family and all the lost boys...please all return home safely soon.
Myself and Kelv who is the manager of Dallington Rovers Fc that play in the Northants Sunday Prem division which Steve, Dan Brown, Dalmonego and myself plus half of UCN have played for on sundays over the past 5 or so years would like to arrange a testimonial football match to be played in Steve's honour on the weekend of the 11/12th January- dates and times to be confirmed shortly with a Dallington select x1 to play I should imagine 2 x UCN football teams. for all of you boys that would like to be involved please contact:
Dawson: 07525937336 or Matt Davemport: 07890294147
Or any dallington lads or people who would like to represent them please contact Kelv on: 07515174656.
I know I have contacted alot of you already and I will put a group on facebook for people i have not got numbers for etc. We will try to get the UCN pitches if not Kelv has kindly offered us the use of Blisworth for the game. I know Cogenhoe FC will be doing something similar so it shows already the amount of people who have admiration for Steve on and off the pitch.
I cannot think of a more suitable way to express just how much Steve will be missed so lets have 90minutes atleast dedicated to him.
Take care Dawson x
