I wasn't 5k out of town when I run into a roadside check. And I realized that I didn't switch the daytime running lights on yet. I switched them on, but i knew, there's a law and hence I look forward to the conversation and the fine. (in Argentina they charge 300 U$.)
The police officer obviously lectured me and I played the naive - it didn't work though. Fortuna on the other hand played nice: when the officer asked me to switch them on, he realized that the bulb was burnt out: malfunction, but no delict, hence no fine. He let me go and wished me feliz años.
To avoid further trouble I had to change it. And now meet Uhiffe. I asked him if he had a replacement bulb: He went straight ahead to the car checking the type. It wasn't that easy, since it took him 15 minutes to get it out of the socket of the headlamp. When he reconnected the loose bulb it was burning! Ok, back in there again: not burning. Out again, burning. Wtf? I then figured this is leading nowhere and bought a new one. And it worked, both in and out.
Without Uhiffe this whole fiddling about would have taken hours. Thx.
