I can't believe its already the second week! Just finished another morning of lessons - the kids learnt how to say they are happy and sad, and how to draw their best friends! v cute - got a pic of them all lying on the floor in a circle drawing with their little clipboards, will post it up wen I can! Im really loving it here, it all feels so natural to get up everyday and go and teach. The lady who runs the centre, Aurelia, said that the other day a few parents went to her house, to tell her how amazed they were as their children were speaking English! They were stunned! It almost put me to tears!
Besides school I managed to have a long weekend doing lots of fun stuff! Went to Kalk Bay Friday afternoon which is a little fishing harbour with lots of antique shops. Had dinner and drinks at a restaurant overlooking the harbour, with the sun setting behind the mountains and a fresh catch of salmon!
On Saturday I went into Cape Town - finally! Yvonne, Roseanna and I got a cable car up Table Mountain. It was a perfect day for it - not a cloud in the sky and views of all the bays and Robben Island... We took an open-top bus around the sights and met Esther at the V and A waterfront for lunch..its like a little rich paradise..with ships docked in the harbour, a huge mall, palm trees....so pretty. Some of us stayed overnight at a hostel in Long Street - famous for backpackers. Had dinner at a Kurdish restaurant sat on cushions on the floor of a balcony, and cocktails at a Carribean Bar. V nice! Sunday was spent milling around at the waterfront again, and yesterday afternoon I got to the beach for some lazyness! So except for a touch of hayfever...all is good!
