Buenos Noches
It has just gone 9pm here in Panama City and I have finally gotten myself organised for my departure at 5:30am to head to the Carribean Coast to catch my boat that I will be sailing to Columbia on in just over a weeks time. Will spend the first week cruising around the San Blas Islands before making the 2 day trip over to Cartagena in Columbia.
Have spent the past weekin Panama City doing very little as my boat was delayed by a week. Wasn't fussed about the delay as the boat I am going on is much bigger than the others (which is a bonus for someone who gets queasy on the water) and has an excellent reputation so is worth the wait. Looking forward to spending extra time on the boat as the San Blas Islands are supposedly beautiful and I have heard that you can get Lobster for $1. Will believe it when I buy it.
Whilst in Panama City I visited the famous canal. Wow what an interesting place. I hope you have had a chance to read through my photos to get a bit of an idea of how it works. Certainly fascinating and I would love the chance one day to pass through it. Other than the canal I have visited the old town which was quite beautiful in its own way (sorry no photos as its a bit dodgy and I rarely went out with my camera), travelled on the crazy buses (better than a roller coaster ride) and did a bit of damage to my credit card with some shopping. Panama City is very Americanised with so many gringo's living here. There are heaps of highrise apartments going up and almost reminds of the Gold Coast.
No big adventures to report this time but I am sure I will have a story or two by the time I reach Columbia.
