Hello,
Ok, firstly apoligies for my late blog entry. If im being honest O just cant be bothered and I have been so so busy the last 3 months Im not sure where the time has gone.
Anyways, your probably aware my current location is Melbourne, where I will be stationed for the nest 6 months. What can I say about Melbourne? Well I love it. After London, its my fave city in the world. If anyone reading this has been they will know why. Im living in a beach surburb called St Kilda. The beach isnt great as its more of a bay but its very similar to maybe Camden with its quirky and weird and wonderful people and Brighton for the beach.Theres also penguins on the beach and they are so cute!!! Its such a fun place to be and is full of British and Irish backpackers, which is kind of cool in a way as everyone in the same boat and great way to meet other travellers. I was really lucky. I booked myself into a hostel for a week when I arrived and managed to land myself a room in a shared house and a job within a week!! I knew when I got to Melbourne that this is where I wanted to be. I had flights booked to Sydney and didnt even use them. I was living with two other travels in an apartment for about a month, they were the best and made me feel so at home when I didnt know a soul in Melbs!! Then they left to go live in Darwin so Iv just moved in with 6 other travellers in a shared house, which is 5 mins walk from the beach and two minutes to my local pub!!! My new place is more of a party house but we are all working so its not too bad and I have my own room which is a massive bonus when your backpacking. Since Iv been in Melb Iv been working alot and met loads of lovely people through my work too. Iv been doing loads of touristy things at weekends and even booked myself on to a winery tour of the Yarra Valleys which was so much fun/messy. Melb has a massive coffee/food and art culture so most weekends consist of drinking and eating and attempting to visit galleries ect.
Ok so thats enough about Melbourne cos I could write a book on it. So... I left Perth and started a 10 day tour of Western Oz, through Western Exposure tour company. This was the most amazing trip I have ever done and would recommend anyone to go to WA!! We visited and camped under the stars at two National Park which are the spiritual homeland of the aboriginie tribes in WA. The first one was Kalbarri, where I saw my first kangaroo, it had a joey in its pouch too and it was the cutest thing I have ever saw. We then went to Exmouth, which is the town closest to the Nigaloo Reef, which is the fringing reef of WA. The reef is beautiful and I saw sea turtles , swam with Whale sharks (amazing ) , beautiful coral and loads of coloirful fish. The beaches are turquiose blue and the water is so warm. We went to lots of beaches like this and also went to Shark Bay world Heritage Site but didnt see much as the waters are a bit cooler this time of year. Wa is so diffrerent to anywhere else in Oz. There isnt much there apart from the odd mining town and theres nothing between towns except sand and bushes. The other highlight of this trip was camping at Karijini NP. This is a huge national park with really cool gorges, hills and really chilled out. Its mega dangerous, the rocks are so slippy but still had the time of my life and the water was beautiful in the gorges. The only scary stuff was the snakes (pythons!!) and mega huge spiders. There was also dingos and they are really cute. The birds are really colourful here too. After leaving Karijini we headed to a cattle station in the middle of nowhere which was million acres big and had a holiday park there. From there we headed to Broome. Broome is amazing. I spent a week there and met so many cool people. It has a lovely beach and you can do sunset camels rides there. The weather is toasting hot and everyone just chilling drinking beer on the beach. Id definately go back to WA. I missed the Nortyern Territory as I had my flights already booked to do the east coast. Everyone on my tour was heading to do the Kimberleys and the Northern Territory but hopefully Ill go at the end of my visa as its getting into the wet season up there again.
The next leg of my trip was the east coast from Brisbane to Pt Douglas. This was amazing too. Ill upload my photos of this tonight ( took 5 hours just to upload these photos!!) And Ill do a blog for this too cos theres so much I have to say about the east coast.
My plan for the near future is a weekend in Sydney on 2nd September with one of the girls in my house. Actually cant wait!!! Im also revisiting Cairns for xmas and heading to the Coffs coast to have xmas day and new year with a friend in NSW. Ill then head to Tasmania, then South Australia, go right up the middle by train via Uluru and Northern Territory, spend a little time in Darwin , maybe 6 weeks then do the rest of my gap year in Asia.
I hope you still enjoy reading my blog and Ill more on tonight and comment on some of my pics xxxxxx
