hannah, good to read your news and views from ecuador - sounds like you're just having a ball. especially jealous about your climbing of a volcano.....did you actually make it to the top?! 4,900m is an impressive altitude indeed. social work down the local women's nick sounds grim though - be careful with your rucksack! so, keep the news coming pleez. un abrazo muuuu fiuerte, tu tío

Bonjour ma petit jaune banane. Ca va? Oui ca va. Have you pulled any south american stone pillars yet? Cos rumour has it they are better than those hanging around in Bristol. Have been intently watching the tv to see any reports of young dentist requesting help from their former employer. ( Help Ricardo, I am stuck!!!!!!!) hey grace has just turned one and bought back painful memories of tearing skin and piles.(some still remain) Anyway enough about my roids. nothing much happening here at the mo, doing a bit of washing and ironing. Must dash to wash the pots. Love ya loads. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Mark, I think I´ve managed to contact your flu the other side of the world- must be a bad one!! Both glands up, s***ty chest infection and choking up black gunk! Mmmm. Even had to miss my salsa class (violins please!) xx
Mark
Hi there, Seems like you are packing in an awful lot. The jail sounds absolutely horrific.. no toilet roll! No but seriously what a desperate situation those poor people are in.
Not a lot of news here. I have the flu at the moment and feel rotten. I have been watching all the day time tv and think I could get quite accustomed to this life of leisure. I have manged to give the flu to most people at work so am not the most popular person.
Anyway take care. xxx

Hola mis amigos! Just a quickie! Just had a wicked weekend. Nursed the mother of all high altitude hangovers on Saturday following Salsaring until the early hours at a local club on Friday night. Very intimidating being in a place where the men are better dancers than the women. It was such good fun! Unlike in England you dance with everybody and although the dance is a poco calliante, dancing is just dancing and doesn´t necissarily mean you´re interested in the other person!
I spent my Sunday more soberly in a high security prison for women. Don´t panic, I know that white stuff is not flour, I was visiting the inmates. There are so many English girls in there for drug trafficing, many of whom have been set up. A lot of them are late teens to early twenties, with no family near by, so a visit from a fellow Brit means a lot to them. A program on the same prison is out on BBC1 on the 2nd of April as they have a journalist imprisoned there. She was set up with two kilos sewn into her suitcase and has been in prison for two years without so much as a trial. Look her up on the internet - Zoe Savage - it´s heartbreaking. She recommended that when you leave South America you also leave your rucksack behind!! It´s a serious problem. There is also a final year British Med student in there - it is a helpless feeling visiting, especially when they ask if you can buy them some toilet roll as NOTHING is provided for them, not even food. It is a far cry from the Briget Jones experience.
Hopefully I´m off to work with the market street children this week. There is a community project that needs someone to do the oral screening and oral health education, from what I´ve seen sofar I supsect there will be a lot of full clearances!
Well good to hear from those who have left messages and e-mails. Keep them coming please!! xxxxxxxx

Everyone else sends Love etc etc Seeing as they are all stuffing their faces at the moment not much chance of anything else happening!! Rob Coleman (LDC Chairman) has just been out to Kenya on a Charity 'do' and took out 128 teeth in 4 days !!! _ I told him you could deal with that easily!! - Have fun!

Hey Hannah, its taken me two weeks to figure out how to send you a message. Im not the most technologically advanced human being! How's things? Im so jealous of you . Did you show the salsa teacher you cha cha cha skills, learnt via the dirty dancing DVD? How's the Spanish going, if in doubt just smile and nod it always worked for me. Well im still working at the school, spend most of the day on the internet counting down the hours so its fun fun fun.
Pues chica me tengo que ir. Hay que trabajar! Mucha suerte con el Espanol. Si necesitas ayuda con los deberes mandame un email. Besos xx

Sorry not to be here when you call but busy catching up with mates so life a bit hectic. Peter, Ester, Bernard and Maloles all send their love. Your messages much appreciated anyway. The soup sounds foul but I am sure you will face worse challenges than that before you get home. Pretty ambitious attacking Cotapaxi so soon into your trip but good on you. I am VERY envious of the salsa classes - may just have to follow in your footsteps one day to learn to dance and finally hack spanish. Veremos. Love you lots. M x
Hannah
Rentals, sorry I couldn´t get hold of you on Sunday, was busy trying to breath up Cotapaxi volcano, a mere 4,900 meters! Thought I might die, maybe I´ll reconsider Everest base camp after all!! Happy birthday young lady....can´t believe you're 43 already (hee hee!) and also happy mother´s day xxxxxxx

cockerel still posing big problem. Reached my limit of behavioural flexibility when out to lunch with my teacher yesterday. Did manage to eat guinea pig but could not stomach pig skin soup!!! Consists of broth with white gelatenous slabs, each depicting every layer of skin with a thin layer of fat at the base. If you´re lucky you can also find a hair or two!! Absoultely minging! My Ecuadorian family could not understand why I didn´t eat it?! Spanish is getting on OK, Ecuadorian mum says I talk more and more each day...hey, won´t let something like a language barrier keep me quiet for long! Loving the Salsa and even have a private lesson at the local dance school later this afternoon ....I´m hoping my teacher will be a Patrick Swasea (however it´s spelt) but the likelihood is that it will be a vertically challanged local!! Really good to hear from those who have left messages, I really look forward getting them! With lots of love to you all, Hannah xxxxx
