Where in the World is Dan O?
Saturday
Saturday began later than expected. Some of the guys were up at 7 am and we discussed momentary if we should get up and be at the tents at 8 am. With reference to Friday and with us being at the tents really early we decided that we could sleep in longer. Friday we were there really early and they didn't start closing the tents off till 3pm in the afternoon. So we figured if we arrived at 10 we could get some more much needed sleep and start drinking around 11 when we were able to get a table. Our logic was all wrong. The population of Germany works on Friday so they don't come till after work (getting off early) so the tents filled at 3. On Saturday everyone is off..... and goes to Oktoberfest. We arrive at ten thirty and the whole place (carnival, tents, and all) are completely filled. It is almost impossible to walk the streets between beer tents. We had to form a chain in order not to lose everyone, which eventually we did. We discuss what we are going to do and decide to split in groups and the first one to get a table call the others. Most of the afternoon was spent waiting in lines. OH HOW I LOVE LINES!!!!!! Dad, this would have driven you nuts! One of the girls in our group gets a call from her old friend who is trashed and in the bar hall. She comes out to meet us, don't know why she couldn't get us in. we found out later you could bring people in only if someone in your group is inside.
About 4pm rolls around and we still haven't found a table yet. So Trevor and I split up from the group and decide to grab some souvenirs and then drop them off at the hotel. We do so and on our trek back, I saw something SO beautiful. It was a black Austin Martin DB7 on the street and it drove by. I had to jump into the street and take a picture of it. It made my day. When we returned we called around and found out that one of the guys was able to get a table outside. We all regrouped there and were able to finally get some beers. We met so many people around us. Everyone was very friendly and as the night came on we drank even more. This was when things started getting fuzzy but to sum it up, I made a little mission to get into the tents. When I finally was in there, I turned around and walked out. I guess I was tiered and decided to head home. I found myself at our hotel which I guess I walked. It was a long walk and when I arrived at the hotel I headed to bed.
