Fern in Tanzania
Happy New Year! I can't quite believe its a new year or in fact January as I am sitting in the sun. I have gone from winter to summer in the last 24 hours due to swapping hemispheres.
I was home in Scotland for a month over Christmas. However being me, this was not as easy as it should have been. Just before I left for the airport in Tanzania I fell over. One very painful flight later and my Mum picked me up from the airport and took me home via A and E. I managed to badly injure my arm and had to have it in a cast and also managed to fracture some ribs! It meant none of the showers I was looking forward to but it was still very much worth being home. I had a month of eating lots of cheese, roast potatoes and chocolate, out walking with my dogs and watching every episode of 'Downton Abbey' from start to finish.
During December the organisation 'Ambitious About Autism' published something I wrote about being in Tanzania which is also being used by the National Autistic Society. They asked 25 people to write about their experiences of being autistic or about themselves or an interest for advent and I got to be Day 14! I arrived back in Tanzania last night and have stayed at a bed and breakfast over night but travel back to Monduli today ready to begin work again tomorrow. It was hard leaving home to come back in many ways but I'm hoping 2016 shall work out well and I'll have another eight good months here!
