6th country down an were steaming on to the next! Safe to say Singapore is my favourite city we have been to yet! It's amazing!
We got the bus from Melaka which was a swift 5 hours! The first thing that made me love this city was its boarder crossings.....huge big brand new buildings just for immigration.....it's usually a guy in a wooden shack conning you out of money AND this visa was FREE!!
We checked into our hostel - the red dot, an were shown to our pods for the next 4nights. Little wooden pods with a Curtain, 2 lights an a socket. For a hostel it couldn't be much better. We walked round to the Lavender garden food court for lunch / dinner. The food was unreal. We had pork noodles duck noodles fried wontons the lot for £7. This is where the fun started!
We then went back to the hostel an booked our flight to Jakarta, with no help to the Halifax as they blocked our cards again. We then got all dolled up an walked the 5km down the river to see the Marine Bay hotel light show. Because Singapore had just had the Grand Prix there were barriers everywhere but we managed to get around. As per found the most expensive shopping centre in Singapore to look at. There was a Tiffanys but no mum he still said no!!
We then watched this amazing light show. Mike managed to get some good videos of it so I'll try get them up for you. A trip to Singapore can't be complete without the honorary trip to Raffles so this was our next stop. I was amazed buy the beautiful building , Marble floors and the the price of drinks! We did it anyway. Did not come this far to not have a Singapore Sling in Raffels an throw monkey nuts everywhere! $67 for 2 drinks.....£33, totally robbery but only once.
Our first full day of sightseeing was tiring. We managed to walk the length of Singapore and more! First stop was Little India. We went to two different temples one of which was the 1000 light temple. Unfortunately the lights weren't on when we went. We also visited the Hindu temple which was packed out. Really pretty, both of them were. We then walked round Little India, not as good as in Penang but still ok. Next stop was Bagis street for the huge Mosque an from there to St Andrews Cathedral, the parliament buildings and China Town! Long long day so we decided we deserved a drink....roof top bar it was! We stayed for the sun set an got ourselves swiftly back to by the hotel to watch Liverpool.
Our second day we decided we had spend too much money so we took another walking tour of the city. We managed to get as far as Haji street when we were shattered! We saw all the clothes makers, the cafes and the wall art. We managed to walk round the biggest shopping centre ever!! It took up so many blocks it was unreal. We came back an sorted all our pictures on the blog and on facebook which took us forever. Had a pretty uneventful night an ate in the little food court again for dinner an skyped mum an dad!
Our final day in Singapore we went to the Singapore day and night safari! Lit was ridiculous!! 11am got to the zoo an just got home now at 12!! I could write a blog about the zoo alone it was that big. We're to start....we saw polar bears, monkeys, giraffes, zebras, dragons, birds, batts, lions an white lions, tigers an so many more! We managed to squeeze in 2 shows as well, one was African animals where they had snakes an little roccony things. The other was a water one with a sea lion doing tricks. They were both great! We also got to have a go on the mono rail in the park.
Round 6:30pm we moved on to the Night Safari. This was full of the nocturnal animals we don't usually get to see in the zoo. Firstly we caught the show for all the birds an owls, otters an these night foxes, was brilliant. We move on to the Safari part of it. We went round the majority of the park on a little cart thing and saw most of the animals an finally we walked round the rest. We didn't realise how many type of deer there are.
Tomorrow we are getting on our second flight to Jakarta the capital of Indonesia, time is flying!
Love you all xxxx
