Hii! Last post from Cambodia seems ages ago already!! Were currently in Laos in Vang Vieng. Loads to catch up on so brace yourself for a long blog!
Our trip to 4000 Islands was our first stop! It was eventful as usual! We were due to be picked up at 5:30 to get the bus to 4000 Islands. 6:30 came an still no bus, I was surprisingly calm to be fair! Anyway a little tuktuk came an got us an took us to a mini bus. We were on here an we thought give it 20 mins an we will get on the big bus. Well this never happened! To be fair it took us 5 hours to get to the coast to get the boat which is much quicker than the 12 hour bus we expected! We had to wait for 2 hours after the 20 min boat to get a new bus which was a pain.
Got to the boarder an had to pay $41 each for the visa, such a joke with all the bribes! Anyway we managed to get to Don Det 14 hours after setting off in the pouring down rain! Found a little guest house for $10 a night which it's lovely!
The next day we walked half way round the island an found a bar which a scouser run. 8 hours and a few beers later we were still there!! He taught me how to make sweet an sour an it was beaut!! He actually let me cook! I made sweet an sour pork all from scratch so no need for a cooking course now hey! The was home was horrible though, pitch black pouring down through big puddles an thick mud! Not ideal!
The next day we chilled out, watched some of the World Cup an had a few beers. We watched my myself and Irene in a bar which plays movies all day an night. Great bar!!
We went on a kayaking trip the next day which was amazing! We had breakfast an got in the kayaks about 9:30, paddled down stream for an hour an got out to go an see a small waterfall. We chilled there for 20 kind an got back into the kayaks down stream again. We stopped after an hour in the middle of the Mekong no idea why until 20feet from our kayak an Irwaddy dolphins pops up! They were amazing!! I managed to get a pic of one as well! We then went for lunch an then to a huge waterfall, biggest in width in south east Asia. It started raining on the way to our final kayaking bit, we had to get out the bus it was that heavy an wall down the road! We then had the hardest bit of the trip to do, slightly upstream in the pouring down rain, thunder an lightening the lot! 30mins later we reached the island again!
The next day we got the bus to Pakse. We arrived round 2 an checked. Hotel was miles away from the centre but for £6 a night we couldn't moan. We walked into town an got some lunch. Nothing at all to so there so decided to get some beers an head home!
The next day we bought our bus ticket to Vientiane which was leaving that night. We walked round the market an to a temple but that's it! Skyped Si an Shell too which was good! 7pm we get picked up to go to our sleeper bus. We met a couple from Switzerland who were really nice. Little did we know what lay ahead for us!! We get on the bus at 8ish an us 4 ended up having the back of the bus beds so 4 in a row! Had a few beers an went to sleep. 2 hours later our bus stops an we all have to get off, not ideal in the pitch black an the rain!! We get on the new bus an there is no room for us!! Us4 end up getting in the front of the bus with this huge guy! Literally took up 2 places! So there we were snuggling in with this couple we hardly knew!!
We got to the hotel round 8am so not too bad but hardly slept at all!! We went sight seeing in the day time, Los of temples to see an the national museum! Had a lovely pizza for dinner but was an early night.
The next day we had a lovely massage in the morning, totally chilled us out which wasn't good as we were due to see more sights! We went to the COPE muesum which is all about the amputees from land mines, we also saw the huge reclining Buddha, the golden stupa an the Arc De Triumph! We went for an Indian for dinner, weirdest experience of our lives!! We sit down an order, an to be fair our food came really quick! The manager walks over and starts taking pics asking us to hold up our food etc! 5 mins later he has a video of our pics playing on the tv in the restaurant!!! It was so surreal!!
We left early the next day to head off to vang vieng. We found a little hot for £4.60 a night for 2 of us, literally so cheap up there! We had a walk round town to see what's what. Had a pretty big night drinking. We played drinking games in the hotel with Angie an Ben. 4 bottle of beer later we decided to head out. Had live music on in one of the bars so that was fab. Stumbled home at 12 after drinking 5 litres of beer each.
Hang over morning!! We were heading tubing an all so not the best combination! At 12 Ally an Chris who we met in 4000 Islands came an met us to go tubing. We get our tubes an head 4km up the town to the first bar. Considering it only has 4 bars, we were pretty drunk by the end!! We had these slushy drinks which you think has no alcohol in...totally wrong! Angie an Ben met us there in the first bar, still feeling the effects from the night before! We played beer pong an headed on up the river! Second bar in, we all realise we have hardly any money!! First bar had rinsed us! Mike lost his top on the way down. That's 2 he has lost in the space of 2 weeks! The guys were shot gunning cans here, recipe for disaster, got a video though. The next bar was probably the best. We payed basket ball, swung in hammocks an played flip cup. Again the beers go down far to well! The last bar was pretty quite to be honest we had to leave relatively soon to get the tube back. The float home took us an hour!! Couldn't believe it, no beer an an hour to get there. Crashed that night was shattered!
Today we are spending a day chillin out an defo not drinking! Heading off tubing again tomorrow!!
P.s. Can't upload any photos at the moment the camera memory card has stopped working so we are going to have to wait until we reach Chaing Mai to get it fixed.
Love you all xxxx
