The 3 plus weeks we spent on the Sunshine Coast were fantastic, relaxing but very tiring at the same time if you know what I mean. We were able to catch up with a number of friends but unfortunately did not get to see everyone we would have liked I guess we will just have to share a drink or two with those we missed on our next visit to the Coast.

It is especially nice to catch up with family and in fact we arrived back on my sister Madeleines Birthday which was a nice bonus - for her, hey Mads? With what we are doing you never know exactly how long it will be before you get the chance to see them again so it is important to make the most of every opportunity. I celebrated my Birthday 3 weeks later and we had a fun night, enjoyed a delicious BBQ and had a few laughs.

I have been fortunate on many occasions to be able to get up on stage with Uncle Bob's Jug Band and when the opportunity presented itself again I played (the bush bass) with them at their regular Eumundi gig. They play at Joe's Waterhole nearly every Saturday afternoon, if you are in the area it is well worth a trip to this iconic pub to check out the boy's unique style of music. And of course while in Eumundi the world famous markets are not to be missed they operate every Saturday and Wednesday.

Another "huge" event we attended was the wood fired pizza oven debut at Megan & Robs in Pomona. Things did not start off real well for the first pizza but of course everyone had an opinion on what to do, I think Dan, Sarah and Chris should be commended they stuck at it and before long we were all enjoying some magnificent gourmet pizzas. Yummo! We went to the movies for the first time in over 12 months and saw Django Unchained what a fantastic movie it was. Sure it had its share of blood and guts (what Tarantino movie doesn't?) but it was not too over the top and the soundtrack was great, it was cool but a little unexpected to hear a couple of broad Aussie accents near the end of the movie.

Our plan was to stay for 2 weeks but Queensland has had a terrible run with wet weather over the past couple of years and January was no exception. As we were ready to leave the Rain God's let rip, the wind blew its guts out and the rain came and came and then came some more. At times it was coming down in opposite directions simultaneously I was beginning to think maybe an ark would be more appropriate than a caravan. It was not just the Coast copping a hammering but parts of New South Wales also which resulted in some major flooding along what was our planned route. As a result we had to delay our departure by a week and even then we had to make a detour and at times still experienced some minor flooding along the way. The amount of damage caused and visible evidence of how high the floodwaters had reached in parts was amazing Mother Nature needs to be treated with the utmost respect.

We are on the road and bound for Victoria as we have an important wedding to attend.
