So have spent about a week at the school sharing a house with the AV volunteers for this year, think they were glad that andrew was there to give them advice on how to survive life in the school! Hello All, Fay and I have just about come to the end of our seperate projects in Uganda so I am sat in an internet cafe in Jinja waiting for her to arrive on the minibus from Entebbe. My firsat week was spent mainly spent trying to get things going - often a frustrating experience - especially when the school has lost its only ladder and replacing it involves cutting down trees. Hello, Fay here! Have now spent one week in the zoo - really good experience. Have been cleaning up a lot of monkey poo! But also got to go in with the chimps and run around with one on my back (trying to teach him to be chimp like!). Also been riding around in the back of a trailer, feeding the buffalo and rhino and have spent many hours just observing the animals whilst drinking tea! Hello, Andrew here! We have now arrived in Kampala after action packed days in Jinja - quad biking in a monsoon and white water rafting about 9 rapids - including 4 grade 5's! Andrew's idea of fun, Fay's idea of hell (never again, getting stuck under the raft is a little scary.... but awesome experience!). Nice relaxing day using the swimming pool of the posh resort next door, now spending a day in Kampala for some Westernisation.
