Where do I start? Breakfast on the rooftop terrace as usual- overlooking the Bosphorous Sea. Off to the Spice Bazaar by taxi which told us the actual price for later on. Spice Bazaar was amazing - didn't feel threatened despite the warnings and we wandered everywhere. Great displays everywhere and the smells of spice were amazing! Wandered for hours then caught a taxi back for the afternoon tour on the Bosphorous Zgolden Horn. Taxi ride interesting- first few charged four times the price. Next one hit the price, got us in his cab, reversed once then said he couldn't do it. Last cabbie dragged us in, reversed up the ramp to the under harbour tunnel at great pace and eventually negotiated the horrendous traffic. Very quick beer and fries next door and we were off on the magical mystery tour of the Bosporus. Great tour - bus, boat, (gammon) cable car touring the palaces and castles on the harbour, then dropped off at the Blue Mosque to see it. Bad mistake - last day of Ramadan. Everyone is there to pray. Everyone. Saw what we could with the crowds there, then wandered back to Sultanahmet for dinner and beers. Incredible traffic jam diverted through Sultanahmet gave us and the local car contents heaps of entertainment, as did the local dogs and cats who adopted us to the horror of passersby.
