Well here we are in Paris! Arrived yesterday to the Old Quarter called Montmartre - near Moulin Rouge and the old windmill. I have now realised that Jim has taken me on a fitness camp - not a peaceful holiday - I have been tricked! Jim had not booked us into a 'normal' hotel like 'normal' people would stay in, no, we are staying in a heritage listed apartment (that means old) and it is at the top of a
cobblestone hill so I nearly go into a coma every time we come home!!!! It is comfortable enough although I slept lightly last night as I think its haunted!!! We had a bit of a sleep in this morning and did not leave the apartment until midday, which was good as we did not get home until 10 tonight - that's 10 hours on my feet! First stop was climbing a million stairs (again) at the Arc de Triomphe to get a great 360 view of the city and the champs-Elysees (street leading to the Louvre.)
Caught the train to the Louvre and hunted down the assyrian, mesopotamian and Egyptian section which took us several hours to go through without dawdling. Had a quick look at the Roman section and then through paintings as the Mona Lisa. Hobbled ( of course) over to the Notre Dame and walked through while there was a mass - a beautiful cathedral with magnificent architecture and stained glass. Left there and went down to the Latin Quarter which was alive and buzzing - it was around 7:30 by now so we enjoyed a beer and dinner - will definitely go back there. Walked around ages getting lost but stumbling into some interesting areas. Eventually had to put my foot down and insist on returning back to the apartment and the bloomin' hill!
Feeling much better now I have a Baileys in front of me and looking forward to another night in our haunted apartment, resting my poor little feet in readiness for tomorrow's adventures. My thoughts on Paris - the people so far are nice, it's frustrating not speaking the language but no problems so far, everyone here seems to smoke which is annoying and - Starbucks thrive here - so I'm OK.

Patricia Jeannie wear your flat shoes, I remembered the gobbles are painful. You are invited to stay with us after the hectic holidays; nice to see some of your photo's and enjoy the next days. Love from the Tenholders.
Patricia gobbles, oops a writing error - should be cobble!
Dylan Complaining about walking much? Đi you think travelling meant you could sit down and let the world come to you? Places sound amazing, Don't give Jim too much of a hard time!
