"Last day Vienna":
Actually location is between Vienna and Venice on the overnight train through the mountains. Had a great day in Vienna apart from the freaking Cold! OMG!! And rain. Went through the Naschmarkt (flea markets and food markets). About 1.5 km of food and flea stalls. Some (many) of the stalls looked like they'd gone down to the dump, filled up a truck and tipped it out on the sidewalk. Voila! (or the German version of voila). Still very interesting though, especially the people.Got colder and colder so we walked into the central city. The game was to NOT see any old historical architecture. Failed. Every street, every corner crammed with incredible history and some pretty full on statues like this one of little baby Jesus putting a spear into an old woman. Ok, it was a she-devil, but little baby Jesus doesn't look too cherubic himself.
"In the train shower noone can hear you scream":
Caught the train down to Venice. Luxury - a two bed sleeper with an ensuite eg our own shower and toilet, and a fruit and wine basket waiting for us. The shower was interesting though - prime the water to the right temperature and just enough room to stand on the circular base and you slide the curved glass door closed behind you. A tight fit. Thats when the shower reveals it's true personality. Water goes freezing cold. Water goes scalding hot. Water stays scalding hot. I mentioned there was barely enough room but I did my damnedest to become one with the wall while I juggled an unresponsive shower k*** which wouldn't turn off because it was on timer. Speaking of appendages, not all of me could blend into the wall. Third degree burns. Jeannie couldn't hear my shrill screams over the train rattle.
