Sunday was the day from hell.
Up at 7 to finish packing, cleaning up.
Taxi at 8:30.
Airport at 8:45.
Stand in 30 minute check in line.
Stand in 90 minute passport control line.
Buy over priced snacks in airport.
Get to gate early.
Go through security at gate.
Wait another hour before finally loading plane.
Sit on tarmac for 3 hours. (At least we had a BAD ASS entertainment center in our seats, so we got to watch a bunch of stuff if we wanted. Adam and Natasha fell asleep, I watched 21 Jump Street and big Bang theory haha)
Told engine won't start, need to get off plane. FLIGHT IS CANCELLED.
Go through 10 minute passport line.
Get bags.
Go wait in 2.5 hour glob of people to get our new flights and hotel information.
Wait 20 minutes for shuttle bus.
Check in to hotel. Get a s***ty buffet dinner provided by the hotel and airline. Go to hotel bar and drink for several hours. (United should have comped us some drinks!!!) But we did get to hang out with some cool people at the bar and the bartenders felt bad for us so they gave us some free appetizers!
MONDAY We get to do it ALL Over again.
Wait for shuttle bus, but it's too crowded so we miss it. Wait for 2nd bus. Very crowded, almost can't get on, everyone's being super b****y to each other, but we get on and we make it to the airport FINALLY.
Stand in CRAZY LONG line, over an hour, maybe longer, to check in (even though we had our boarding passes and just needed to drop off luggage. But United no longer had a baggage drop off center).
Stand in 30 minute passport control line.
Stand in 20 minute security line and finally go through gate security.
Flight is delayed almost an hour. Wait to board.
Finally board!!!
Leave late but at least we're in the air!
Unfortunately, no badass touchscreen entertainment system, just the regular one.
But the guy next to me let me have the aisle seat (yay for nice people!!!) and then because no one was in the 2 seats across the aisle from us, I moved over giving us both extra room. It was probably the least terrible transatlantic flight I've ever been on.
Arrive in Houston at 1:50.
Wait in 30 minute Passport control line.
Wait for our bags.
Wait in 20 minute customs line.
Give our bags back.
Spend 4+ hours eating, drinking and sleeping at the airport until our 7:15 flight.
Tiny express jet from Houston to Nashville.
FINALLY In Nashville at 9 pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY!!! So glad to be home. :)
