After leaving Estoril we retraced our route towards Lisbon and crossed the Golden Gate Bridge, I mean the Ponte 25 de Abril to head south. We were going back to Albufeira for another night's stay in the same hotel as our last visit as the facilities were excellent and the price was right. As we rode in to town we were pulled over by the local GNR aka State military police (read Traffic Nazis) who suggested that our bike headlights were too bright. When the two officers discovered that we were Australian, the reprimand disappeared and one of them even gave Greg his phone number to arrange a station visit, which he declined.
Albufeira tonight was busy with visiting Brits holding 'hen' and 'bucks' parties - the women were quite conservative having dinner. The men on the other hand were loud, tipsy and extroverted. Some of their outfits were quite unusual as well - we saw a Borat style mankini as well as see through budgie smugglers and many guys dressed as women in sequinned skirts! All rather weird and over the top we thought.
Our next day's ride was about 400km, again retracing some territory we had covered before but it really was the only way to get our destination of Algeciras at the southern tip of Spain which is adjacent to Gibraltar our real homing point. Most of the riding was done on the freeways with our stops at the immaculate roadside services. Again we rode around Seville - much easier in this direction. We rode passed the signs to Circuito Jerez but were not even tempted to go and have a look - I guess you know why! Our hotel for the next three nights is quite luxurious and a great price. We even got free tapas when we bought a drink at the bar - we followed our tapas with dessert! There were 6 children celebrating their Communion here this afternoon, one of them had a very memorable name - check out the photo album.

Merrilyn Sounds good. Glad policeman didn't want to change bikes headlights. Sounds like great accomodation.
