The 360km ride from Granada to Alicante took us over and through the mountains of the Parc Nationale de la Sierra de Besaz. Beautiful scenery with snow capped peaks and very chilly on the bike.
We were of course, minus Chris who was still in Granada awaiting Sprint repairs intent on catching up with us later that day.
After booking into the luxurious Hotel Maya for only 67 euros per night we immediately decided to stay another night figuring Chris (and us) could use a relaxing day in comfort.
Alicante is a small sized city right on the coast with a brilliant above and below ground tram system and a great selection of restaurants. It also has a very, very large shopping centre just across from our hotel.
After check-in, Greg and I caught the tram in to town, only one stop, and did some washing before a delicious dinner in an Italian Restaurant - we think Marc Marquez's cousin was our waiter. We walked back to our hotel along the seaside passed the marinas full of luxury yachts.
Chris arrived at 1am with the Sprint firing on all four, oopps, I mean three cylinders. We did not catch up with him until he emerged from the hotel at 1pm.
In the meantime, Greg and I had checked out the shopping centre and once again caught the tram in to the centre for another look around. The city has many fountains and unlike some other places we have visited these fountains have water in them and are working. The town streets are lined with palm trees giving the area a tropical feel.
We returned to our hotel for an afternoon of make and mend. Greg had a sleep, Kerrie caught up on the blog and mended a pair of shorts that had developed a hole. Well rested we met up with Chris for a tram trip back in to town for dinner.
Our chosen spot was on the seafront with a very energetic English waiter who now lives in Alicante with his family. After learning his life history and eating a delicious dinner, Greg felt our waiter had earned a tip so he got the $10 Australian note that Greg has been carrying since we left home.
The tram trip back to our hotel took about 10 minutes and it was time to get ready for the next leg of the journey - still heading north towards Barcelona.

Craig and Marg Alicante appears to be a lovely relaxing stopover. Very pretty and well laid out.
