While we fall in love with every small town we visit like Rapallo, Como or even Beaucaire, a big city has a certain attraction. It is enticing, and captivating and almost hypnotic, saying, "Come to me, come to me." And I want to. I fall under the spell and I think Stan does too. We start thinking about moving here, maybe just for a year or two. And should we someday, we won't live in the suburbs; no, we will live in the city. Maybe not in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods but one that has history, access to metros and buses, on a street with a flower shop down below. We would look for an apartment maybe close to a university so we have access to frequent plays, performances and exhibitions. Our apartment will be in a building with a lift, but on a floor high enough that the windows catch the best breezes and whose windows are equipped with those wonderful European 100% light black-out shutters or shades. Ours will also have window boxes with glorious geraniums and petunias. Yes! And we will shop daily for figs, olives, sausage, bread, cheese, fresh melon and wine.
What a dream!
We had four things on our to-do list today; visit the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal -- Thank you, Carol Olson! The story about this chapel and the medal it inspires is heart-tugging. In short, a nun, Catherine Laboure was told in an apparition on this site to create a medal. The first Medals were produced in 1832 and millions of Medals have been sold and distributed since then. The medal is an expression of faith - it is not a charm. It is to remind us of the Gospel and the love of Jesus Christ for all persons.
Number 2 was confirm our Chunnel tickets for Wednesday, three was have the performance time for Moulin Rouge corrcted on our tickets and finally, the the fourth item was visit Jim Morrison's grave.
Uh-oh - gotta go! Molin Rouge tonight!! It is time to leave!
