hey its elisa! following on from our Ozzy blog from the other day...the next day we drove down to a place i cant remember the name of, along the stewart highway and went to some HOT POOLS!!!! it was early morning so it was pretty chilly, no one was looking forward to stripping off and being freezing after getting out the hot pool, but we did it anyway! ran and jumpd into the pool coz we wer all so cold, and it was soooo goooood! feet felt like they were burning coz they were so cold. the water was lovely and warm, and it didnt stink of sulphur. we relaxing in the pool for a while, we didnt want to get out! then it came to the moment we were all dredding- getting out! it was coooollllld but i managed to grab my stuff and run to the hot showers. oh it was called Mataranka, just rememberd.
then we went on a long drive to Daly Waters, which is pretty much nothing there apart from a pub lol. its the northern territorys oldest pub, and its got peoples leftover clothes and signatures all over the wall. there were tshirts, money, id, pants, bras etc! then we drove to the first international airport that was made, not rely in use today. our driver Ben drove full speed down the run way while i stuck my head out the window lol.
we continued to drive down all the way to tennant creek where we stayed for the night. when we drove through the town, Ben told everyone on the left had side of the coach to move to the right, because in the past the coach has been hit by flying rocks from the chavs of the town. what a nice place to stay...cant wait to camp in the middle of nowhere in this town...
arrived at our camp site, literally in the middle of nowhere, was cool! nothing there but a horse. we had drinks by the fire and told stories, it was so much fun. pretty freezing cold bt the fire warmed us up. then we got in our swag and slept on the floor by the fire, looking up at the amazing sky full of stars and the milky way. saw some more shooting stars. its one of the highlights of the trip! had the best sleep in a long time!
got up at darkness the next day, so that we could go see sunrise at the devils marbles. we crawled out from our swag and into the coach and back to sleep again while poor ben drove us to the devils marbles. its a sacred site for aboriginies. its full of rocks that look like MASSIVE marbles. apparently people go missing here as there are spirits here that live in the rocks- according to aboriginals. saw the sunrise and had breki there. saw a dingo here aswell, looks like a dog lol. drove down past an old telegraph station, then crossed the tropic of capricorn and arrived into alice springs.
Didnt expect alice to be the way it was. bad crime. i thort it wud luk like a cowboy place, but it was pretty normal, i dont think it had much character. it was surrounded byu beautiful mountains that were there millions of years ago. some of th pubs n bars we weent to were ok tho- nice themes. in the eve we had a drink at a cowboy bar- the seats were saddles! then went for food at another bar, tht had loads of posters and headlines of tragic stories that happened in OZ e.g woman killed by croc, croc walks into a bar, etc. after that we were absolutely nakerd so went back to the hostel.
the next day was a new trip with a new group, said by to phill and others. back to me tom and judith now. got up at crak of dorn, waited an hour for our bus to come!!! not impressed, turns out one of the people on the trip overlayed and were running l8 but the driver, Bron, wouldnt tell us who. Drove to Kings Canyon on the first day, went on a long walk there which was really nice. the canyon is beautiful, such good views! the group that we were with were not as good as the others. there were 2 girls who were nice, but the rest didnt really talk. we had lunch in silence!! there was an american family who were 'italian' ...meaing that her great gran was from italy...lol. and there was a french boy who didnt no how to clean or use a rake, realy strange but funny, ask me bout him when im back. Turns out he was the one that made us late, and didnt apologise.
drove to the camp site and arrived there late at night coz of 2 hours delay- due to frenchy and the slow walkers at the canyon. sat round the fire agen, Bev one of the girls told us a freaky story of a druggy that broke into her room at night, she woke up and found him standing right infornt of her bed! she could hear her friend in the other room screaming at another guy too...in the end they ran off and didnt harm them, they wanted some drugs that they left there a few weeks ago.
went to sleep in a swag again, not as good coz there were some clouds bt still fun.
the next day we saw Uluru at Sunrise, which was nice, altho it was abit cloudy. would hae been amazing at sunset, it turns different colours! went on a walk around it in the day, its cool seeing it up close. we saw the railings going up to the top, where people can climb it if they wanted- altho u shudnt!!! its sacred to aboriginies and they dont want u to climb it but they cant stop u. annoyed me seeing people being so inconsiderate to their culture when they climbed it. about 35 people have died on the way up because its so steap and all there is to hold on is a railing, but it doesnt go all the way to the top. i saw little kids on their own up there..! pft!
afterwards we went to see the OLGAS or Katajuta, another rock formation, even taller than uluru. went on a small walk there, beautiful views again. then we headed back to Alice Springs as it was the end of the tour :( very sad! on the way back we went past a fake Uluru- looks like it but its not. and a dead kangaroo. A pigeon flew into the car aswell, you could see parts of it stuck to the car infront of the window. haha. I was in the DJ seat on the way home so i played some groovy tunes, and we all sang to some Australian music- Gday gday, how're you going? is one of the best. and Land Down Under.
back at alice springs, a group of us met up for tea and drinks, Bron our driver came and she got us some free jugs. I drink Cider now, its free! french boy came ahahahahh think he wanted to dance with judith hahahah. later on in the night we al started dancing and had a great time. then we tried to go to a casino but the bouncers wouldnt let tom in coz he was too drunk, and Bev couldnt get in coz her jeans were "excessively ripped". wot a joke. so we went back to hostel.
said our goodbyes to Judith, wont be the same without heR!
we had a day in alice with Bron n bev and went to a desert park where we saw animals n stuff, and kangaroos, alive ones! then we got the plane to Cairns!
