So we left Singapore early this morning to catch the 8.30 bus to Kuala Lumpur. Well, we say a bus, it was quite luxurious, it was a double decker coach with big comfortable seats and they had a massage/vibrating function, which we both found a tad scary.
We were meant to leave at 8.30 but due to the bus ticket station not opening on time, and some palava or another (not caused by us we must add) we didn't get going til after 9am, and safely arrived in KL around 3pm.
Not knowing where we were exactly as it wasn't a proper bus terminal, we jumped in a cab and directed the nice man to our hotel, to which he then laughed and informed us it was literally just across the road and round the corner. We used the 'we have really heavy bags' to try and seem less stupid... we don't think it worked.
We're currently staying in a place called the cube, which is just that - a cube. Our room has no window, and a shower over the toilet (a concept which Candy does not understand, but is just grateful there is a working toilet!) The staff are friendly and the hotel/hostel as a whole seems nice.
We dumped our bags and went for a walk to find something to eat as we both haven't eaten since yesterday, and on our walk around, Emma got a tad (over) excited to see a Laura Ashley store. Whilst Emma had her picture taken outside the store, Candy opted to have her picture taken with a large blue plastic duck in the middle of the street. Emma reverted back to 'staff' mode as she was criticising the way they had laid out the store, the merchandise and anything else that wasn't up to her standards, can I get an employee of the year award here please.
We've been trying to upload photos on here and facebook but it's not liking us very much at the moment but they will be hopefully on their way soon.
Tomorrow we plan on having a proper look around the City, we'll keep you posted on what we find and the antics we may get up to.
So tomorrow arrived, we set our alarm planning on getting up really early to go off exploring, but as Candy was about to get in the shower, we got caught up in this film called 'Prom Night', a 'scary' American cheesy 'we all know what's about to happen next' film, that was totally annoying but Candy spent most of the film standing in the doorway planning on only watching one more minute until it turned out to now be 10.30 and our 'start early' plan had gone out the window :-/
We eventually made it out the room with no windows (so weird not to see daylight when it's morning) to start the day. We grabbed a coffee and a bun the size of a dinner plate and headed towards the Petronus Towers. We wanted to go up to the Skybridge, but all the tickets were sold out :-( Apparently they have a very limited supply that goes on sale at 8.30 and once they're gone that's it. We were really disappointed but we took a few pictures and admired the view for a while, well until it started raining, then we headed to the Pavilion for a cocktail or two (any excuse!). Oh, and bear in mind that we are in Kuala Lumpur, we're standing outside the towers where they have like water features on the grounds opposite, and Emma comes out with "...they're like the water gardens in harlow" then tried to back up her statement by adding "but much nicer". Hilarious! For those of you that don't know Harlow Water Gardens, it's really no comparison, but you've gotta love an Emma quote!
We had dinner in this lovely Mexican restuaraunt (parents, we've eaten a proper meal!) and then took a stroll back taking in the sights.
We're off to Krabi in Thailand tomorrow for 6 nights, the longest we've actually stayed in one place since we started travelling. Fingers crossed the rain there lets off.
Until then folks...
