Our first full day in Geneva was awesome. We got a yummy free breakfast at the hostel-they had this chocolate cereal that was amazing and I wanted to hoard around bags of it for the rest of the day. It was an early start off to ITU for our tour. We took the metro but in Switzerland they run on kind of an honestly code. You can just jump on without having your ticket checked which was nice because it saves a lot of time. Once we got to ITU we were led to a huge lecture room where they gave a background of the company and talked about telecommunications in the world today. It was interesting at points but I guess a lot of people fell asleep so they got kind of mad. I stayed up though since I had chugged 2 cups of coffee at breakfast so swirling around and around in my seat might have made them mad too. But I paid attention so that's what counts hah. After the lecture they took us on a tour of the museum, which had displays about the transformation of telecommunicatiosn throughout the years. They had the world's first phone next to an ipad just to show how far everything has come. Once the tour was over we all split up to explore Geneva for the day. The girls and I went to go find fondue-obviously. Our friend Buoyana had been to Geneva before so she knew of a good place to go. On the way there we walked along the water and took lots of pictures and saw some cool sites. The town is really cute and had a ton of cool little shops and also some big designer brands. Paris can get overwhelming at times but Geneva was perfect. It could be because it seemed a lot less crowded and easier to walk around. After a bit we arrived at the restaurant. It was super expensive and tori and I didn't have francs yet so we went with Kayla to go find an atm. Which turned into quite an adventure because every person we asked pointed us in a completely different direction but we found it eventually. It was a long trek back to the restaurant though so we decided to grab sandwiches at a little shop. I'm glad we did because the sandwich I got, a moby dick, was super good even though I had no idea what was in it. Tori and I took our food and ate on a wall across from the restaurant. We must have looked super sophisticated because people kept asking us where places were as if we lived there. Too bad we couldn't really help any of them hah. Once everyone was done eating we made it our mission to go get some real swiss chocolate! We walked around until we found a good choclatier and I bought a bag of 4 chocolates; pistachio, coconut, salted caramel, and a white chocolate truffle.. And then I devoured them. Some of the girls were tired after that so went back to the dorms but Nicholette, Buoyana, and I still wanted to explore. We walked to the other side of the water that we hadn't been to yet and I'm glad we did because there was a path that went out like halfway into the water and we got to run under the giant fountain! It was awesome slash pretty cold because you got pretty wet hah. It was fun and we walked around a little more until it was time to go back to the hostel for dinner. After dinner a bunch of us decided to go hangout by the water. We stayed out pretty late just talked and wandering by the water and pretty soon some of us were hungry again. Nicholette and I shared my first ever kabob and I have no idea how I've never eaten one before. We all didn't get back to the hostel until super late but it was a great night!
