Tom and I awoke at 9 (I allowed him a lie in) and we went for breakfast down the road. He experienced his first fry up over here, complete with dodgy frankfurter sausages. We then braved public transport to Chatuchak market, walking 10 minutes away to a number 53 stop. However, we couldn't decide which side of the road to go on as 53 appeared on both. We went to one side, to immediately see a 53 arrive and leave before we could run across. We then swapped sides as we knew a 53 definitely came on that side of the road. As soon as we did that, a 53 appeared on the side of the road we had just left and we missed it. We decided to stick to our guns and stay put and got on the next 53 that arrived. 5 mins later we jumped off at the next stop as turns out we were on the wrong side of the road after all. After a grumpy and impatient wait, we were finally on our way to Hua Lamphong station to connect to the metro to Chatuchak market. It was one of the furthest stops away so it took forever! Though it only cost us 50baht each for both bus and metro so was a bargain!
We finally arrived at the market and traversed our way around for a while before agreeing that we badly needed a drink. By this point, a bite on the back of my leg had got slightly oozy and was dripping pus down my leg so it was sore walking too much. We picked up a juice and continued walking/limping around until we arrived at the same massage parlour I had visited with the girls on our first day. I eventually persuaded Tom to have a half hour foot massage with me, but chose the masseuse across the road to share round the custom. We sat down next to each other and relaxed, ish. Like last time, mine was more pleasurable than painful, despite the masseuse putting green herbal balm on my bites (which felt good) and her slapping it 3 times shouting chants (which didn't feel good). Tom, on the other hand, was busy grimacing as his feet and legs were being pummelled and tugged by his lady. I found it hilarious, him not so much!
We then found some garlic bread and condensed milk bread to have as a snack/lunch and continued walking around, sweating the entire time. When we had walked around the entire market, we called it a day and made our way back to the metro where I proceeded to fall asleep until our stop. We then waited a good 20 minutes for our darn 53 to go back to Khao San.
On the way back we spotted the Royal Palace so decided to jump off to check it out. Unfortunately it was closing, and we were inappropriately dressed even if it had been open - apparently it's one of the strictest places for dress. Instead we walked 15 minutes back to Khao San to relax for the evening. After a lot of walking around tour places, we finally found one that sold us an Ayutthaya day trip for the next day, as well as the overnight bus and then ferry to Koh Tao in the evening.
After enjoying a massamam and red curry (mine was spicy!) we got back to the hotel for a relatively early night for our early wake up call for Ayutthaya the next morning. Not before I whupped Tom's butt in SkipBo though
