Day 2:
After a rubbish night's sleep (awake until 6am then had 2 hours sleep before breakfast and then another 2 hours after breakfast) I headed into town to see what I could find. On my list of things to do I had wanted to see Singapore Zoo, they do a night safari but I decided to have a look during the day so got into a taxi (don't worry mum, a proper one that had a sign on top and the tariff advertised on the windows) and headed off across town. Once again when I got there I was struck by how friendly the service I got was, the people who worked there seemed really pleasant and chatty. It was scorching hot and if i had to guess I think the temperature was somewhere between 30 and 35 degrees.
Singapore Zoo was the best zoo i have ever been to! The setting was beautiful- it surrounded an enormous lake and had beautiful gardens as well. the animal enclosures were large and interestig for them and there was very little glass that separated the animals from the humans. On top of that I got to see animals I have never seen but always wanted to- for example manitees (if that's how you spell it) from America, also called water cows or something like that. they were so docile and sweet. I saw a sloth, a polar bear (yes, in the tropical heat), aligaotrs, crocodiles, beautiful white tigers and loads more. Going to put my photos up now- i got a little snap happy!
I eventually got back to my hotel about 5pm. The taxi driver pointed out the presidents house that no one lived in- bigger than Buckingham Palace apparently, and said that visiting singapore is lovely, living here is apparently boring because there is nothing to do.
Tomorrow Ali and Lis are arriving in Singapore so hopefully I will be seeing them before I head to the airport to fly to Darwin about 10pm (3pm your time). So the next entry I write on here will be on Australian soil!
