epidemics everywhere...

so there's an epidemic going around the exchange student body. i'm pretty sure the cause has something to do with staying up late every night! it's catching up with everyone around here. everyone is coughing up a storm and their voices are going, including mine. so much for never getting sick. however, i did cave and buy some cough medicine. rachel and i had to ask one of the clerks to translate the bottles for us since we realizes she's been using an outdated medication for about 5 months!

this weekend is chillax weekend. i need to catch up on sleep and rest my throat. yesterday i hung out with hanna and rachel and then spent the evening at home attempting to study. bedtime: 9:30pm! today is girls day! the morning involved getting my bike from the bike shop (as an aside, having a flat tire in holland it probably the worst thing that could happen to you. it was very debilitating worrying about getting place as i'm almost an hour walk to the university. fortunately i have a roommate on a 10 day vacation so i was able to borrow his bike). then rachel, ellen, natasha and i hit the city centre to search for boots. another epidemic in this country. about 4/5 women seem to be wearing them and in the city centre about 1/3 shops is dedicated to them. plus, boots fit so much better here! i never find boots i love and fit me well in canada. here, i have my pick :). and tonight is girls night at the villa. a massive and beautiful house near the university. hanna actually lives in the pool house there. we're making pizza and watching movies.

and then tomorrow is study day. hopefully i'll be able to concentrate. studying is not very productive when you're sick. but at least i'll have tomorrow to rest up and get over this. i purchased some cup-a-soup at the albert heijn and i'm loaded up with tea already. hopefully this epidemic won't last!
