Kande Beach
Kande beach is this amazing camp site on the beach, with yet another amazing bar full of hammocks. John and I upgraded (we are turning in to real snobs) and got this beautiful detatched bungalow on stilts which the sea came right up to the door! As we had arrived so late Dale had arranged for us to go into the village to eat a meal prepared locally with the village. When you walked out the gates you were surrounded by young men trying to sell you something or get you to do your laundry done through them. There were 2 locals to every person it was crazy and they all had fake names its not every day Winston Churchill, Donald Duck and Spiderman are offering you laundry services. When we got to the village the whole village greeted us and we sat outside on a big rug and had this curry dish. As much as I wish we could say it was nice I don't want to lie!
After our (lovely) tea they all danced for us, the dancing was crazy and the kids got well into it. They told us that we had to go next and dragged Carl up, bless him he was our trainee driver and had only met everyone a few days earlier- he looked mortified! We decided the easy way out would be to do it together so we all stood up and the kids started fighting over who they wanted to dance with- at one point I felt teeth in my hand!We all had 3 kids to dance with so we had little circles and the kids were well funky but we all kind of jumped around in some poor attempt at having rythym- it was hilarious! At the end of the song all the kids jump on you and start hugging you. Then we went to the bar for a few sherbets and then went to our lovely new home!
Chilling... chilling and more chilling!
We spent the next few days in Kande beach and I wish we could say we were productive but all we did was lie on the beach, eat and drink so I don't have much to say! It was an excellent few days. Oh at one point we walked into the village and bought some exercise books for the kids and gave them to some locals but other than that all we did was chill… it's not a bad life really!
