Hi Hilary and Erica. I tell you, its nerve wracking being a parent, even when they've fled the nest. All with in a few days we've had Hil bitten by a giant rabid stingray; an earthquake snapping at your heels and now headlines in the Post are that Hurricane Dean heads briskly for Caribbean. The waves may be getting a little choppy even where you are. Maybe you had better stick to beaching on Islands that have trees to climb.
I know we are not supposed to live vicariously through our children; but I'm in total agreement with Vanessa. This is just too much fun reading your postings. What are we going to do for humour when you are both back.
Stay safe, you two and enjoyevery minute you have left in S America. Love Richard.

Hi guys - sorry about the lack of pictures - I do have some from Cartagena, Playa Blanca, and Taganga - it´s a matter of both remembering to bring my camera to the internet place and having the patience to sit there and resize the photos and upload them. Will try to do some in the next few days (as long as Puerto Colombia has internet - not sure). As for pictures of the beaches here, those´ll have to wait - neither of us are willing to bring our cameras to the beach, as we´ve seen a few too many ruined by sand, and so we have a disposable one.
Fatality wasn´t a big issue with the sting ray - it was actually the force of the blow to his chest that killed Steve Irwin, rather than the venom itself - mostly concerned with keeping as much feeling in my foot as possible.
As for the math questions, everyone gets them - they´re to keep spammers from posting on message boards like this.
That´s all for today!
Vanessa
Am I the only one who gets these retarded Math questions. I am not even good at math and I can answer them. Hilary, I'm relieved that you are alright. Get off those anitbiotics fast so that Erika does not have that Gin alone. Erika, I am online trying to find the codes for the dish. What a life.

Have we completely stopped taking photographs? Nothing since Cali, I believe...

Hi you two:
I'm glad to hear you are relaxing on the beach. I was looking at Google Earth last night and zooming in on Chichiriviche, and the various little cays off the coast. It truly does look pretty idyllic.
The report on the Peru earthquake said that Ica was the hardest hit place, and they had a death toll of 300 or so. Glad you're not there now. You've got two more weeks of soaking up the Caribbean sun.
Wikipedia says that stingrays are rarely fatal (Steve Irwin being a conspicuous exception).
Vanessa
P.S.
I'm glad you are no longer in Peru. Earthquake 7.9 on richter scale. Joe will pick up you and Paul in Vancouver.
Vanessa
Hey Erika,
Look across Venezuela and see if you could spot our home in Trinidad. Better yet use the zoom on your camera, perhaps you could get a picture of our house there. Keep having fun you two. This is the most entertainment I've had in years. I'd happy that you are both safe and well.
