Apparently when Muhammad was hiding in a cave he was protected and saved by two white pigeons and a spider. the spider made a web over the cave entrance and his hunters thought he couldn't be in the cave. not sure what the pigeons role was or if the spider is sacred too. the guide was not very clear on that.
