Round the World with Em
Aloha!!
Hope you are all well. It's now day 14 of our fabulous trip....I can't believe it as it feels as if we've been away so much longer.
Since I spoke to you all last, we have been to three more places, Kanchanburi which is about 2 hours outside Bangkok and the islands Ko Samui and Ko Phanghan in the South.
We arrived in Kanchanaburi and decided that we'd go kyacking for the laugh. Eileen was the only one who had been kyacking before and lucky for me I was in the boat with her. Ohterwise I would say it would have been a disaster! Eileen and I got off to a great start, but Sandra and Catherine had a few hiccups......they got stuck in a pile of muck and seaweed and couldn't get the kyack to stop turning. Sandra wanted to abandon ship; I don't think it helped that I was in fits of laughter and that Eillen and I tried to go back to help them and then ended up hanging off a tree!!!! Anyway, 3 hours later, we had kyacked 5km down the River Kwai..... I was very impressed with myself as it was seriously painful!! We've also been to the National Park, where there were beautiful waterfalls. We had to trek for an hour to see the seventh waterfall....it was up hill all the way and I shamed myself by slipping and falling into some water!!We were going to go swimming, but we were all too chicken to go in as the fish kept trying to bite our toes!!!
Our next stop was Ko Samui, which only took us about 15 hours to get to!! We arrived back in Bangkok, thinking that the overnight bus would be leaving at 6pm..........after about 20 'the bus will be here in 10 mins' and 3 hours of sitting on the side of the road, the bus finally came. We thought great, we'll be able to sleep for the night.......no such luck as we had 3 English guys (one who looked like Fester from the Adaams family) getting themselves tanked up and talking for most of the night. We then had to sit on the floor of a boat to the island and finally arrived about lunch time the next day....it was seriously painful!! Since then, i've been enjoying the sunshine, the beach, the beautiful men the shops and the beer. All our diet seems to consist off is Singha beer and rice. It's a real Paradise Island!! (Con, I though u'd appreciate the fact that I have another box of shopping items ready to be sent home!!)
We've been on a banana boat, which was the funniest thing ever.... we got thrown off twice and I was the one who couldn't get back on it becasue I was laughing so much.
As you all know, I love my soaps......We were walking down the street and Sandra spotted Kym from Home and Away. He is even more gorgeous in real life than he is on tv. We stopped and got a picture taken with him, which was fantastic. Eileen had no idea who he was and didn't know why we were getting ourselves in a flap! Anyway, between the three of us we couldn't say a word to him as we were star struck..... I dread to think if it had been Brad Pitt, we probably would have been on the floor!!!! We also saw Kym at the Full Moon Party which took place in Ko Phanghan on Wednesday night. We started drinking on the beach at 6pm and didn't leave until 9.30am the next day. There were about 10,000 people on the beach partying the night away with the full moon shining down on us. We also saw the sun rise in the morning which was beautiful. We spent the night with a group of Irish lads from our hotel; they were so funny that the night passed quite quickly.
As the weather wasn't too great, Sandra, Catherine and I decided to go and get our hair braided y'day. We're real backpackers now, as we don't need to worry about washing our hair!! Considering my hair is the shortest, it took the longest to do and I think looks really funny (will try and send some piccies) We've also got a henna tattoo..... I feel like such a rebel!! What other mischeif can I get up to?!! We then spent the rest of the afternoon drinking on the beach and ended up in an Irish bar, where we met some Northern Irish lads. Aiden in particular was very nice......!
We leave Ko Samui on Monday for Chang Mai which is in the north to go elephant trekking.....should be an experience!
Anyway, I must say it's a hard life! Miss you all tonnes. Keep in touch.
Lots of love and hugs.
Em xx
