Dates in Bangkok: Sun 18/01/09 - Wed 21/01/09
So the trip began in Bangkok. Internet access is quite frustrating as sharing a laptop between three is difficult and the internet can be so slow!
I'll make this brief and let you know where i've been so far. I've been keeping a diary and taking loads of photos so they will all get uploaded and the blog will be updated eventually!!
We spent three nights in Bangkok, which was very interesting, a major culture shock, and hot! But we soon made our way down to Phuket town on a bus which took 20hours!! We spent a night in Phuket town which was a lot quieter and more traditional thai, with not many tourist and a lot of friendly locals. The next night we moved across to a town called Patong, very very touristy and busy, with loads of husttle. After one night there we got the boat to Ko Phi Phi Don, a stunning island, but quite expensive. We were there for four nights and did a tour of Ko Phi Phi Leh, a famous setting for the film The Beach, again, a beautiful small island and soft white sand. There were a few stops on the way were we saw monkeys and did some snorkelling (really good photos of this trip).
After quite a long boat ride down south we landed on Ko Lipe, an amazing tiny island with great people. This was a more laid back atmosphere where people seemed to go for a chill out. We had a great bungalow 20 seconds from the beach, and again soft white sand. The family that ran the place were lovely people and the kid took me out and we did some fishing with a homemade harpoon, but had no luck.
We then made our way back to the main land by boat and landed in Pak Bara, and then a short bus journey to Trang where we spent 3 nights. Trang was a busy town, with few tourists and not much to do, but very very cheap so we took it easy, and hat a look around the night and day markets.
I am now based in Ko samui, which was a bus and a boat journy from Trang, and this is our 3rd day. We've met some really nice people, and everyone is heading to Ko Panyan (not correct spelling) where the full moon party is, huge beach party every month. So we are leaving Ko Samui tomorrow (7/2/09) and spending a few days there...
Will try my best to upload the rest of the pictures and add a little more detail to my journey so far!
Miss you all, Love Mike
