Pretty short drive to Addo elephant park. The scenery changing again to become a lot greener and richer (and warmer). After lunch we went on an afternoon game drive which was pretty cool. Saw the usual suspects, zebra, kudu, many amazing warthog and then ventured to a watering hole, where we could see a herd of elephants in the distance. Within 5 minutes about 25 elephants of all ages descended upon us to get to the water. It was fantastic, to top it all I got a great video of two males play fighting. Also a good combo sighting here - elephant, warthog, black backed jackal, black backed heron and a dead zebra! Quite a few jackal around, assume the zebra was drawing them in. After leaving the site we then came across a herd of ostrich (not sure if that's the correct term), with the males trying to impress the females by wafting their feathers and doing a little dance.....didn't work!
Well, what a morning. Didn't sleep due to the snoring symphony around me, at one point think there must have been about 5 people at varying volumes and tones!!
Up at 4.45am to go back to the dead zebra to see what was about. AMAZING DRIVE (yes, it really does deserve capital letters). On the way we came across a lioness, she was beautiful, spent ages just milling around scent marking. Got some great pics and a video, can't believe how lucky we were after the elephants! This spot was followed by a group of black backed jackal at the site of what was a zebra yesterday, but was now a rib cage and some meat. They had clearly had their fill, probably along with the hyena and lions in the park. Interesting just watching them, one seemed really nervous, but tucked in anyway. On our drive out, our best spot so far. A big male lion on the side of the road. What a beauty, huge mane, huge paws, lots of scars, although a bit disconcerting as he kept looking at me!!! We watched him for a while, got some great pics and video of him yawning, roaring (or worwing mum!!) and eyeing me up for breakfast!! Really worth the early start, once again, very happy lady! A wim away, a wim away, a wim away, a wim away.....in the jungle, the mighty jungle........

Yvonne (Mum) Like the singing along the way. No more cheeky comments please. Dad said have you been white water wafting on the woaring wappids lately. You are all very rude to me. Love you
