Up early for Tiger safari today, after last night, equated to about 4 hours sleep, but felt ok, was very excited at 5am as some had been seen in the park!! Well one thing to say really, as per Chitwan, Oh deer (in fact oh deer, oh deer, oh sodding deer!!!!) Just to set expectations NO we didn't see any tigers, we did see deer though, in case you were wondering. To be fair we also saw crocs, peacocks, green parrots, tree-pies, which are really pretty, and also stopped for about 20 minutes to view a spotted owl, which is the same colour as bark, and was sat on a branch, not moving, nor did we, for 20 minutes, whilst not seeing a spotted owl.....
Between safaris (went AM and PM), had an opportunity to do a ton of washing, update my blog, sit by the pool, and contemplate how I can fund a trip back to India to find a tiger.
Afternoon safari re aligned my back, felt like we were back in Nepal with the tracks, and had a great opportunity to see deer, crocs, peacocks and birds at 4pm rather than 9am. To be honest, my now blistering, sunburnt hands have been less painful. I do realise I am sounding very negative and ungrateful, but when the main reason I have wanted to visit India for years is less than a few miles away (they had been spotted), I hope you can see my point of view or if not at least sympathise a tad for my plight!!
Evening was great, nice meal and a few beers with Cathy, Cerrie, Claire, Louise, Liz and Nathan, playing name that tune using Cerries iPod, which is a homage to the best of 80s music! !! I'm talking Luther, Whitney, Wham, Kylie...... Also found out from Louise, that Aqua are still going (she is an avid fan of their 3, yes, 3, albums), Barbie Girl not a one hit wonder after all....
Considering all of the above, all I have in my head is some random carnival tune, which I need to look up, and, I wanna be like you ooo oo, guess I am in Jungle book territory.
Also spoke to our tour leader, Atikur, who helped 4 of us organise a further safari for the morning, fingers crossed, no, everything crossed........
