Last full day on the boat :(
Started the day with a boat ride around the bay. Once again we had been told that we'd probably see a few things here and there. I think the easiest way to do it is list them all, we did see a few things, a few thousand things! (You think I exaggerate, but if you counted all of the fish in the shoals we saw there'd be about that!!!) Anyway, I digress, here we go - Sally L crabs, Blue Footed Boobies (complete with blue feet photo opportunity), marine iguanas, hybrid iguanas (cross between land and marine), eagle rays, sting rays, golden rays (a few different schools of them with about 20 in each), pelicans feeding in their "hit a brick wall" fashion, turtles, baby black tip sharks and white tip reef sharks, huge white tip reef sharks, sea lions and ALOT of fish......wow, wish we had been snorkelling, although Grant from the group has an amazing underwater camera which he was using, the video footage is fantastic (yes, I have asked to steal it!)
Back on the boat for a quick snooze before our final snorkelling opportunity. Saw some huge parrot fish, sea lions, and a couple of the guys saw a white tip shark.
Last lunch (soya again), now I haven't talked about the food too much, but it is a bit random. They serve a soya version of what the meat eaters are having, and I'm not sure how, but it's more realistic than any Quorn or Linda McCartney attempt to replicate meat. So much so that I actually don't like eating it, the texture actually makes me feel a bit sick! At least confirms I won't go back to eating meat!!! The salad, veg and potatoes are luckily, really tasty!!
Last trip of the day was to South Plaza, or as it should be called Combo heaven with Iguanas at every turn, Plaza. Beautiful views across the ocean, and iguanas absolutely everywhere. They are however, unlike deer, brilliant. I love their feet and fat tummies, they are also hilarious when they walk about (yes, I do have footage). Combos included sea lions playing with Sally L crabs in the foreground; land and marine iguanas; iguanas and Swallow tailed gulls; sea lions, gulls and marine iguanas; a huge fat sea lion and huge fat land iguana (having a "who is more like Homer Simpson" competition, both were flat out with huge bellies spilling out); also saw a gull who was protecting her egg, and a gull with her chick. The landscape and wildlife here was just fantastic, a great last trip on the islands!!!
After our visit, the boat navigated to our resting spot for the evening, and as the sun set we started to see some visitors to the boat in the shape of pelicans, sea lions and Galápagos sharks. At one point it looked like they were all on top of one another! Great to watch, went on for quite a few hours. We also had a final cocktail to say goodbye and thanks to the crew, followed by Diego insisting I get up to dance salsa with him. Thankfully lasted about 5 minutes before he'd had enough of my two left feet! A few final drinks before bed, and our last activity tomorrow.
Last day, beautiful sunrise across the ocean, and an opportunity to see sea lions high up in the rocks of the Daphne Major and Daphne Minor islands. No idea how they get there, pretty high up and pretty sure they don't have climbing gear!! Short trip to the airport, now sat waiting for our plane to Quitto. Amazing trip, beautiful scenery and intriguing wildlife - it really is paradise. Great group of people Grant, Ninja, Kinjal, Neil, Vebeka, Arnt, Mark, Hubert, Jana, Russ, Diana, Fran, Colin, Elaine and of course Jane. Lasting memories are - Pelicans brick wall diving, "Jane, what are we doing next??" (now I have a travelling buddy I've lost all ability to think for myself!!!), blue feet, fat iguanas, sleeping iguanas, walking iguanas, dodgy soya, swimming with sea lions and turtles, trying not to stand on sting rays, Diego and his love for Jane (that's a whole other story), sunrise, sunset, combos a plenty, dogs on conveyor belt and juggling kids, last stop Quitto before flight to my last adventure tomorrow........

yvonne maybe we should try to visit. Glad you likes the boat trip, like a mini cruise.
Rachael Five Bellies where to next moon? I'm still waiting to pop here so if you could hurry up, have another adventure AND write it up in record time that would be most satisfactory. I blame you- the boy is clearly waiting for his Aunty Moon to get back!! Miss you. x
