What does every 20-something think of when we hear the word Prague? Cheap! That's right. Beer that's cheaper than water, £2.50 for the biggest pizza's you've ever seen and a short European trip that won't break the bank. Prague with its bohemian charm and elegant architecture reminds you just how classical Europe can be.
Best visits:
The Charles Bridge. Even if you're not sentimental about these things, the Charles Bridge offers something for everyone from street entertainment, cartoonists, spectacular views and even a bit of romance for sweethearts wishing to attach love padlocks.
Prague Castle. Looks almost good enough to eat! The incredibly detailed gothic buildings make you feel like you're an extra in a Disney movie.
Bar Crawls! Like every major city, Prague certainly does not disappoint when it comes to bar crawls! Offering some of the largest bar crawls in the World, you could be crawling with up to 200 others, hitting some of Prague's coolest pubs and bars and finishing in the world famous, 5-storey Karlovy Lazne Club. I would recommend Prague Pub Crawl International Party and not only for the free t-shirt!
Cheap Booze! Find the right places to drink away from the touristy square and you could be enjoying pints of beer for less than a quid.
Streetfood. Mulled wine bursting with orange and cinnamon flavours, sugary cinnamon rolled pastries (Trdelnik), pulled pork with potato leak mash and Czech-style crepes (palacinky) Mmmmm!
John Lennon Wall. A beautiful symbol of communist resistance full of John Lennon inspired graffiti and lyrics from Beatles songs.
The Old Town Square. Classic architecture, streetfood venders at every corner and a new sight round every bend. What's there not to love?
The locals can be quite blunt and unfriendly but that's only to be expected in a city overflown with tourists expecting to take advantage of the cheaper luxuries. We didn't take it personally and found that it added to Prague's charm.
TIP: Prague is only small so 4 days exploring here was enough for us. The centre is also a lot more expensive than toursists have been lead to believe about 'cheap' Prague. Explore some of the alleys and side streets off of the Centre and you will find prices are much more welcoming and what you expected them to be!
Prague is small but wonderful. Bursting with rich history and famous cultural attractions, it is not a city to be missed. Even if it is only for the cheap booze!
