hola everyone! we have some good updates to blog now, so here goes.....
yesterday (19th july) we had another early start, waking up at 4:30am to be ready for our taxi at 5:30am. we then caught a bus at 6:00am which took a couple of hours to get us to the catamaran.
we got off the bus and were instantly hit by the unexpected heat of 9am..smiles appeared on our 3 happy faces. we boarded the catamaran and me and kella headed for the front to lie on the nets whilst emma hurried to the bar to collect some much needed pina colada´s!.......however, these were not your ordinary cocktails, they were HUGE!
The catamaran was hilariously touristy (parents..i bet your loving my use of the english language right now!)..no sooner had we sat down, the 80 people we were joined with stripped into bikini´s and speedo´s as quickly as they could, revealing an interesting sight to behold, to say the least! and of course, we followed trend to show off our glowing white pegs.
after no time at all, we were sailing through the water with spanish jingles booming into our ears and pinapple being handed to us on trays whilst we laid sprawled out soaking up the sun.
about two thirds the way through the boat ride, the catamaran slowed and tourists began hurredly making their way to the sides of the boat. so, with curiosity in our eyes, we followed. it was then i saw two MASSIVE turtles attempting to mate at the surface of the water. there were many giggles and coo´s and a muffled announcement from our guide, from which the only word i caught was "romantic". once the excitement was over, emma, kella and i (better english eh!) reformed and they explained how they had thought (for most of that time) that the turtles were in fact dolphins..which in turn, explained the funny looks they received whilst excitedly chatting about the ´dolphins´. ooo dear.
The boat ride was amazing, and added variation to our travels. We also saw pelicans (for those of you that don´t know what they are...BIG birds with loooong beaks and wing spans probably about 2-3m!).
We finally reached our destination at 11:30am...tortuga island...lush! If you recognise this name, it could possibly be because it is in part of the ´Pirates of the Caribbean´ story. it consists of white sand, warm sea, palm trees and beautiful views.
No sooner as our feet had touched the soft sand, our clothes were off, our bikini´s were on and we were laid on our towels soaking in the sizzling soliel (sunshine). An hour later and it was lunchtime...
We gathered at tables under trees in the shade and were served a fantastic 3 course meal with crisp white wine, whilst 3 costa rican men played sweet music beside us. PERFECT. And if that all sounds too good to be true, we have video evidance, which we will put up on this website as soon as possible!
After more sunbathing we had a swim in the sea..it was so warm! luuuurrvly.
When the day was over, we cruised into the sunset with bob marley blasting out the speakers of the catamaran and another cocktail in each of our sunkissed hands.
