On boxing day we flew too Alice springs and it was so hot not far off 40 degrees, the next morning we started our three day trip first stop was uluru, we also saw mount connor which is fairly similar just a flatter top and steeper sides. We walked around the base some of the art work is still in the caves and was amazing to see. You can climb the rock but it was closed the day we were there and its disrispectful to the aboriginals so i wouldnt any way, i feel these natural wonders should be preserved. After a very hot walk it was back to camp to have a swim ( my first since having my tattoo ) it was so nice, then back out too watch the sun set over uluru, unfortunatly it was a bit cloudy so we didnt get a great sunset and just sat round drinking the good old goon ( very cheap, strong wine ), Goon is the abo word for pillow which is what the bag is used for once the wine has been drunk. Our evening was not so great, at least on this tour the tour guide cooked for us but there were so many bugs all over the place. To eat and try to stay away from the bugs we sat on rolled up swags away from the lights, as we were eating some one spotted a snake going amongst the swags, luckly only a whip snake which is a silver colour and not dangerous. In the night it rainned and because the swags were not water proof we all got soaked. We then got woken up by the rangers at the toliet block right beside our camp who had found a western brown in there,. one of the most dangerous snakes in oz, how fun. The next day we had an early start to watch sun rise at uluru and it was russell's bday the big 30, after sun rise we went to the oglas and went for a lond walk about 3 hours, thankfully it was a bit wet and kept the temperature down. I tought they were alot nicer than uluru and a fun walk. We then went and set up camp at a cattle station and got to have a camp fire, i was going to sleep in a sway again but there were too many bugs so i slept on the bus with most people and russell roughed it out side. Another early morning i will be glad for a lie in back in sydney, we went to kings canyon and another long walk but again it wasnt too hot so we had lots of fun. The hill the call heart attack hill was nothing to what we had been doing in western oz, the graden of eden looked amazing and we were lucky enough to see the waterfall flowing. We then had a long drive back to alice springs when we got there the todd rive was flowing this only happens about once every twenty years and they say you are only a local if you see it flow twice.
