After a hearty breakfast, we met a young Wallaby called Sally before leaving the sheep station and wait for it... I actually held her! I wasn't too keen on it but there you have it, perhaps this trip will make an animal lover of me yet...!

We then headed off to Cromwell - the home of Aussie country music and the annual international country music festival. The festival apparently starts in two weeks with many famous artists due to travel over for it. We were taken to the Golden Guitar (just a big guitar, not much more exciting than the giant sun dial!) and after another very long and boring bus journey, we went gold panning where I was reminded just how impatient I am! Some of the others found a couple of nuggets of gold, but I didn't get anything. In fact, I was so impatient that I soon gave up and looked for garnets instead, of which I found two tiny ones.

We then continued on to Bingara, where we are staying at the Imperial Hotel. Everyone went either horse riding or canoeing so I took the opportunity to go for a run instead. I asked a few people for route recommendations/directions, but the tracks they sent me to were all pretty useless - they last about 500m-1km then disappear! One woman said I could just run along the river, but there's actually no way through on either side and it turned out she'd never actually tried it herself anyway! Ah well, I pieced together lots of short tracks to make a good length run in the end.

The hotel is basically a very old pub with rooms. The paint work is peeling off and it smells a bit musty, but I'm sure we'll manage! It's more of a hostel really as the rooms are like dorms with bunk beds, but I got lucky and landed the double bed in a larger room. They gave us a good big dinner too, so I can't really complain!

We haven't had any phone reception for a couple of days, never mind Internet. They looked at me like I had two heads when I asked about wifi in the hotel, although I did manage to use a computer in the public library.

I've just realised I'm missing Shrove Tuesday, gutted! Please can we have another one when I'm back?!
