Another mad week!! On Monday we were told we were going off into the jungle to collect leaves. I presumed this would be a simple task - I was very wrong! The sorts of leaves we needed to collect were giant palm leaves 15-20ft long! Not only did we have to cut them down, we also had to carry giant bundles over a mile through jungle terrain! This weekend has been brilliant!!! The white water rafting was amazing! We started off on a class 3 river and then joined a second river in the afternoon which was a class 4 - i.e. it had better rapids!! I absolutely loved it and was so disappointed when we reached the end. The scenery was spectacular - we passed countless waterfalls and there was jungle either side of the river. The rain continues!! I guess that´s what you should expect from a ´rain´ forest but it is supposed to be the dryer season! We get the weekends off so last weekend we all headed to a place called Banos which is famous for its natural springs (hot water at last!) as well as it´s jungle tours and extreme sports. I´m in the jungle!!! I´ve only been in the jungle for a week but already I´ve seen and done loads!! On my first day we got stuck in with spades and wheelbarrows and dug a trench around our hut - very few builders bums in site as the mosquitoes would have got to them! :-) Then in the afternoon we went off to visit the local shaman.
