This weekend has been brilliant!!! The white water rafting was amazing! We started off on a class 3 river and then joined a second river in the afternoon which was a class 4 - i.e. it had better rapids!! I absolutely loved it and was so disappointed when we reached the end. The scenery was spectacular - we passed countless waterfalls and there was jungle either side of the river. We also managed to spot a bit of wildlife in the calmer sections of the river in between the rapids - an otter, kingfishers, lots of other birds, and best of all, was seeing a glimpse of a black cat (not the domestic type) darting away from the riverbank into the forest. The day was made even better by the fact that the guide was pretty darn cute!
I've just spent the last 5 hours on a protected jungle island situated between two rivers and have seen more wildlife here than I have on the whole trip so far! First of all I was followed then semi chased by an ostrich (er no idea what it was doing there!). Then I watched a stand off between the ostrich and a monkey - the ostrich won! I've been eaten (well nibbled) by a tapir - strange looking creatures! Then I was followed by a monkey. The monkey kept looking round as if it was scared of something behind it and then proceeded to cling to my leg. I couldn't get rid of it and had no idea what to do! I didn't want to try and force it off me in case it bit me. Luckily after about 10 minutes of me standing there / shuffling along with the monkey still attached to me it let go! Everything seems to be pretty unpredictable here!!
