The Eagle has landed!! arrived 2 days ago from sydney. was first thru airport customs - put bag thru xray, no questions, easy! shared taxi w Rosie (NZ - film & TV degree - look out for Radi radi ra comedy series) to Rancho Urbano, an antique hostel run by Marcello (he was born there) built by his great grandfather. Rosie & I walked down Avenida Corrientes to get some Empanadas (like a samosa) and helados (ice-cream -i had frutos de patagonicos) yum! busy busy streeets, noisy, lots of buses, cars, taxis, motorbikes etc.

Transfered by Subte (subway) to Avenida 9 de Julio - main avenue to Lime Hostel, little more worn but well run by travellers and good facilities. Staying in 6 bed female dorm. Rosie and i trekked around for the day - Plaza de Mayo where there was a hunger strike by the farm workers of a provence where a child dies every 3 days due to a disease, there are not enough doctors, medicines, etc.

We tried to find food but seemed to go into places just as they were closing - Argenitinians eat quite late at nite, we had missed lunch and were too early for dinner. Got an empanada and snacked on almonds as walked to Cemetary but we were too late, it had closed. We could see some tops of very old tombs, angels and the like, quite eerie but very cool. We walked the perimeter and came across a cool park with jacaranda trees and what Í´m certain was a Bunya

Back at Ave 9, we stopped at a corner bar-cafe - i ordered "dos cerveca por favor" (2 beers please) and they were brought out in glass mugs with snacks - chips, peanuts, seasoned beef, battered & fried sardines and chicken pieces.

Better jump off now as people are waiting to use the internet. We are going to hire bicycles and ride around (very safe) to see graffiti and maybe andy warhol exhibition? Rosie´s friend Sarah has just arrived to meet us, it is her birthday!
