Bogota was pretty rainy so we went to the supermarket and made use of the great hostel kitchen and cooked some brunch, and lunch to take with us for the day (budgeting).
We joined a tour of Bogota's street art, with Colombia having some world class pieces and it being legal to graffiti many areas. Our guide was so informative and the tour was really interesting, consisting of two hours walking around the historical centre of Bogota looking at particular pieces of street art and discussing the artists and crews that created them in more detail. One fact that I loved was that the local school - decorated completely on the outside with graffiti - would bring in street artists to paint with the children. A lot of the street artists produced political murals and produced graffiti with strong messages depicting social and governmental issues. The community were often completely in support of the street art and would agree to let artists paint their houses or restaurants.
After the tour we walked into the centre and managed to catch the Gay Pride parade which was so happy and colourful and it was a pleasure to watch people embracing their sexuality - especially with gay marriage now being legal all over America! It was a great way to end the day.
We caught a night bus from Bogota to Medellin on which each passenger in our price band of seating had essentially their own reclining leather armchair, TV and plug socket! Ridiculous!
