Today we took on the volcanic hills of Pucon... on horse-back.In response to Em's safety-focused question, our tour operator cheerfully explained that, in Chile, there's no need for helmets. This caused me upset, initially because I realised I could have worn my cowboy hat after all, and secondly as, once mounted, we immediately clopped erratically onto the main road!Naturally I had lied about my prior horse-riding experience (in truth, none whatsoever; however to get things moving: "sure, but it was a while ago"), but I soon felt suitably admonished as my notably anxious and free-spirited horse opted to both lead the charge and set a sporadic fast trot, rather worrying my right testicle. Had I not donned all five of my clean pants this morning in cautious anticipation, I doubt I would be writing this now!
I won't bore you with our post-ride relaxation in the volcano-heated hot springs, but it was fun to discover Em has bigger bruises than me on her behind! Ha ha ha!
The fruits of our broke-bum adventure were the stunning waterfall views, some of which we've tried to capture in the Pucon photo album and the waterfall video - do have a look if you have a moment - it's an 84m waterfall called the Salto del Claro.
Best wishes from us both,
Chris (and Emma)
