I ran out of time yesterday in the internet cafe so had to round off Zanzibar but for you lucky people I'm back on today, so I can tell you more :)
Cats. Zanzibar is full of them. Heather and me came to the conclusion that during the slavery period, they were possibly brought over on the ships to keep the rats away. Agree? :)
I had plums everyday. What a yummy treat. Your always see a man walking past with his wheelbarrow of plums. They were so tasty, just like the rest of the fresh fruit there. I'd never seen so many pineapples before. Maybe Zanzibar and Tanzania are big pineapple exporters?
"Jambo, Jambo" coming from everywhere. Everyone saying Hello in Swahilli. I felt so rude though as we couldn't respond. We did ask some locals what we should be saying but like in Uganda were I can communicate in Luganda, it wasn't the same. I'll have to learn some phrases for when I go back.
I forgot to say, when we went Snorkelling, I burnt so bad! We were wearing wet suits but didn't even click that we'd be bobbing along the water, our bare legs on show, with the sun beaming down. We both burnt our calves and my wetsuit was higher up my leg, so ended up burning the backs of my knees. So painfull! I couldn't stand or walk properly because it was right on the joint.
Unfortunatly at the moment, I can't upload any photos. Maybe it's the lead, but computers don't seem to be recongising it. I'll have to keep you in lingo for a little bit longer, but I cant wait for you to see my snaps :)
Went home yesterday to find the living room blue. Vic and Sophie painted it whilst I was away. It looks great, so much brighter.
We're hopefully going to do the bedroom soon. It's a dark green at the moment, not good. We just want to make it as homely as possible :)
Going to see R Kelly on Friday. I doubt I would of gone to see him if he was performing in the UK, but he's come all the way to Uganda, so I've got to really :)
And then on Saturday we're going out for Molkies 19th birthday.
I forgot to say before, we've got 3 new boys in Uganda. Project Trust do 12 month and 8 month projects, so they've come out for a 8 month project near Jinja. We have Rory, Ben and Molkie :)
So this is my last week until I'm back to changing nappies and teaching. Think we're just going to relax, sort the house out and do some lesson plans. Although the first week of term for some reason pupils don't turn up. So we're be able to some lesson plans in the staffroom also.
Speak soon. Lots of Love x x x x
