Still in Buenos Aires having a really great time. Nearly covered most of the city and will be done this evening when we have made the trip over to Palermo. This is the upper class area in the city so should be nice to walk around. Probably stay there late into the evening to discover the night life up there.
so on Sunday we went to a football match at Boca stadium. We booked it through the hostel and then found out that you can get tickets much cheaper by doing it directly. O well! the tour took us to some random girls backyard where they had set up a little bbq and beer station. basically a way to make even more money off of us! we arrived at the stadium really early but apparently thats wats needed as you need to get a seat in the shaded areas of the stands. The opponents fans sit above and they have a tendency to wee and spit down on the fans below...how lovely!!! so we had a 2 hour wait before the game kicked off. treated ourselves to some classical football food... south americas answer to a hot dog! the match was really fun - the fans are really roudy and crazy. they jump around so much that the concrete stand above us was shaking - pretty terrifying! the atmosphere was great with loads of singing and chants of which I tried to join in but failed many times as I had no idea what they were saying! havent been to a football match in years so was funny seeing it live rather than on a screen in the lounge! didnt feel real - felt like we were just watching some random boys have a kick about for fun lol!
apparently the matches can get violent so it was no suprise wen they let out all the oppositions fans and then we had to wait an hour before we could leave the stadium.
then yesterday we went to La Boca area which has a few little streets full of pastel coloured restaurants and shops and loads of tango dancers in the streets. lovely area to sit and watch the world go by!
in the afternoon we went to the holocaust museum. its quite hidden away and you need passports to get in so theres clearly a high security risk. It was small but well done. I had a sheet with all the translations of the information in the museum which I read out to Barney as we went around. He took such an interest in it all which was really nice. Wasn´t sure how he´d feel going to the museum but think he really enjoyed it and learning bout it all.
Last night we went to the Carlos Gardel Tango Show. Was a really unusual set up. Everyone arrives at different times and gets seated onto long tables. THen you have to pick a 3 course meal from a set menu and it gets served up so quickly. Abit like a military operation! We had arrived abit late as our transfer picked up the wrong people from our hostel (not quite sure how considering there were 5 of them and only 2 of us so dno how there was space in the car!) so we were still eating dessert when the show started. The dancing was amazing and such gorgeous costumes. They move about so quickly and there was one dance where the man literally threw his woman partner around! was very impressive. There was a pause in the show so i went to the toilet thinking it was the interval. However, it wasn´t and I ended up missing most of the last dance! very annoying. It was a great show but over way too soon. Very glad I got to see some real tango dancing though. Want to give it a go myself now though. May book into a tango lesson. Barney keeps dancing around the bedroom when no one is looking!
Got the Gaucho day booked for tomorrow. Should be really fun. Cowboys and that kinda thing! So will let you know how that goes. You´ll all be pleased to know that it´s been raining quite abit here and its windy!
Bye for now xxxx
